Movie Review: Yes Yes for Qui Qui

There are a few good renditions of this story but I like Leslie Howard & Merle Oberon's the best. Raymond Massey plays the perfect antagonist here.
In France heads are rolling as Madame Guillotine removes the aristocracy from power & life. The mere suspicion of being an aristocrat can cost you your life.
In England refugees flood in fleeing France & then they must hear the news of their friends that didn't escape France. A Britain known only as the Scarlet Pimpernel has begun to disguise himself as a French peasant & help the ex-rulers to escape the guillotine. His main tool is his wits.
The revolutionary leaders don't enjoy their borders being violated, victims snatched from death & looking foolish since they can't catch him. The Pimpernel's wife is French & has apparently caused some people to be fed to the Guillotine.
A French dilomat is assigned the task of discovering the Pimpernel's identity & catching him in France where justice will be served. Surprises await the ending of the movie but it's the unexpected roles & great acting that makes this my favorite.
The Pimpernel perfect, the wife perfect, the spy perfect & numerous supporting roles are great also. A terrific period piece when that world knew no peace.
I like 3 of the Pimpernel's shows but this one is my 5 stars.
