Movie Reviews of Savior

Movie Review: great movie
Summary: 5 Stars

this is a great movie that was inspired by true events as noted by the director. this is a very sad and dramatic movie about an american mercenary who goes to fight in bosnia as a mercenary to get revenge on people of the muslim religion after islamic extremist had taken the life of his son and wife. once in bosnia he sees the realities of hate and it shows how war crimes were commited by croatians, serbs and bosnian muslims in the bosnian war. he goes on a journey to try and save a serb girl who was raped and has a kid as a result of the rape that her dad despised. on the journey to get her out of the country he sees first hand how bosnia was during the war. very good movie based on true events how they really happened.

Movie Review: The best film about genocide since Schindlers List
Summary: 5 Stars

This film had some of the most emotionally devastating images i have ever seen. When the man walks into a mosque with a handgun and fires on people at prayer in retaliation for the murder of his family after a terrorist attack, when a man kicks a pregnant woman in the stomach simply because she was raped by a muslim and became pregnant as a result. And perhaps the toughest image, the mother of the child being bludgeoned by a sledgehammer as the child coos and smiles just yards away. This is the kind of film you have to talk about once its finished just to deal with it. This is a fine film, perhaps the best yet least known anti war film of recent time. Watch it, you will be better for seeing it.

Movie Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

Dennis Quaid and Natasa Ninkovic (not Nastassja Kinski!) shine in this drama that unfolds during the horrific Bosnian conflict. You need not know a thing about the background of this film to understand the message director Predrag Antonijevic and screenwriter Oliver Stone are trying to convey. War is hell and there are no winners and losers. The victims ultimately are the purely innocent. Be forewarned, this film is intense and uncompromising. Even though Dennis Quaid has that macho action hero thing going for him, don't expect a RAMBO film here. Do yourself a favor and ignore all the spoilers and just buy this film and watch it with somebody near and dear to you.

Movie Review: Don't pass this one by
Summary: 5 Stars

Chances are you didn't hear about this film when it was released. Due to its extremely limited theatrical release, it's essentially 'straight-to-video'. But don't make the mistake of writing it off as a B-movie. Dennis Quaid gives an award-caliber performance in this very moving war film. This is not fun to watch by any means. While never 'graphic' in a conventional way, this film has scenes of horrific violence and cruelty that are impossible to shake off. Rent or purchase the DVD edition, it includes a director's commentary track. Even if you are not a big fan of war films, this powerful story will draw you in and keep you watching.

Movie Review: Stunningly Realistic
Summary: 5 Stars

Savior is perhaps one of the most stunningly realistic films depicting the less glorious and horrific side of war. It is a well etched portrayal of classic tragedy with a twist of redemption, centered around a character who draws the viewer in to the plot as we watch his hate morph into various confused emotions, all spawned by some interaction with an environment that he created for himself through that same tragic quality. I believe that I can say with some confidence that Savior is one of the most eye-opening films I have ever viewed and has most definitely altered my ideas concerning the Serbian-Bosnian conflict.
