Movie Review: LIKE A GOOD WINE - BETTER WITH AGE

My wife and I celebrate our 30th anniversary of marriage this year and remember this movie fondly from almost 30 years ago. We both agreed that every aspect of the movie seemed better than when we viewed it last. The story was easier to follow, the humour seemed more ironic and the music exceeded my expectations in it's placement within the movie. I was left wanting more.

I just love this movie. Even though it is celebrating an illicit relationship, I think the more important virtue displayed is friendship. Two people accidentially meet over a weekend and end up being long time friends, in spite of challenges in their individual personal lives. To the reviewer who called this movie disturbing all I have to say is save the psycho babble for real life. This is just a movie nothing more. No marriages were ruined.
The music was touching especially the song done by Johnny Mathis. I would recommend this movie for a rainy Saturday or when you need to just have a good cry.

I saw the film when it first came out and, whilst it doesn't bring you right up-to-date any more, it is one of the most wonderfully put together plays - acted with charm and intelligence - that I can remember having seen. We went to Mendocino for our honeymoon and everyone told us to watch this movie. While a movie about cheating on your spouse doesn't seem like a great idea and there really wasn't that much of the town shown in the movie it was still a really good movie.
