Being familiar with SAM BUSH & his music from the early days of NEW GRASS REVIVAL to his collaborations with such great masters of music (Doc Watson, David Grisman, etc)to being the band leader for Emmylou Harris to his own Sam Bush Band...he shines....everytime!
Sam is the guy you'd like to go have a beer with & just shoot the s**t.
And thats what this DVD "Sam Bush On the Road" gives you....a very laid back, cozy feeling of Sam Bush & his band playing their best in your livin room.
From classics like Granpa Jones' "8 more miles to Louisville to Jean Luc-Ponty's "New Country"....Sam & band shine...& of course there are a few Sam Bush original tunes in there too....
Thanks Sam for another MOST EXCELLENT work to add to my growing collection!

If you've never seen Sam Bush in person, then you need to own this DVD.....classic Sam with all the trimmings!! The band is very good to great, and the song selection is very good.....but come on.....who cares about the song selection or the band....what you come to hear is Sam playing the mandolin and singing, which he does very well here. The guy is simply one of the great American musicians...a musician's musician, if you like. Buy the DVD and let's hope they put out more of them in the near future!Movie Review: Mandolin fireworks

I have longed to see Sam Bush play, but live in a part of the world that makes this most unlikely. This is the next best thing by far. The spirit of the late lamented New Grass Revival lives on in the Sam Bush Band. Such joy and celebration fill every track. The spirit of bluegrass gets mutliple makeovers, which make this whole concert so engaging. Intricate rhythms, extraordinary soloing, great singing. What else is left.
This is a must for anyone who enjoys bluesgrass with an attitude.

Sam Bush is the best musician on the planet. He plays the mandolin, guitar and fiddle with total joy on this DVD. Joy is what Sam Bush is all about, and he not only plays his instruments and sings with virtuosity, he spreads that joy to everyone who sees him live. This is the best DVD of the year!

Movie Review: After all these years! Sam still has it going on!!!

How many have been to the festival all 3 days? I am glad to see Sam finally do a DVD on his live performance's. The crowd in the show is a little subdued which the band feeds on. I find the Live! Sam Bush Shows the most exhilirating when he is playing the bar scene and not in a quiet theatre, which this reminds me of. Good loud mix on the banjo with Scott Vestal and Sam's playing, etc. The overall mix seems to be a little weak, good choice of material and the interviews are good as well. I wish this would have been an outdoor concert venue instead. Now Sam just needs to release some old live footage of the New Grass Revival day-2 DVD set from early years to 1989 when the actual band split, that would be a gold mine..Tim
