Movie Review: Still the best! Skip the Rob Lowe remake!
Summary: 5 Stars
Having just watched both, the original was SCARY. Lance Kerwin was amazingly compelling as the teen in the original. The newer TV version almost put me to sleep several times. It just wasn't scary. The original gave me chills! Especially the summoning at the window, and the vampires themselves were so scary.About the new version, Donald Sutherland was the scariest thing, that's it. Nothing else was interesting or compelling at all.

ok King had definately outdone himself with this movie about a writer that returns to his hometown only to find something is wrong, Terribly wrong. and worse yet townspeople are fleeing and have already vanished.
come along on stephan kings thrill ride of the Supernatural and immerse your self in this world of Vampires an Absolute Must Own for Vampire Fans!
188 Minutes long too so not a cheap short film either.

This is a fantastic vampire flick! I saw this made 4 tv movie when it first aired back in 1978 & since it is based on the novel by Stephen King I had to watch it! The price was right and I really enjoyed this Movie years ago. I was happy to find it, because I thought it might have been out of print. I have always enjoyed Vampire Movies, and David Soul. Great combination! Really good movie. But most important of all, it is based on the Novel by none other then Stephen King. This is scary, and most of my friends who don't get scared in anything had nightmares for weeks. See it by yourself, in the dark for the ultimate experience!!! Salem's Lot is the best Stephen King book based movie! It is also the scariest King Film!
