Movie Review: All Three Were Heroes.
Summary: 3 Stars
This war drama was played out in lush woods in the snow, lots of aspen trees. At first I thought it might be Colorado until some old partial stone buildings were shown. Then I knew it was made on foreign soil with unknown actors.
It followed the trail of a hand full of survivors of the Malmedy Massacre during WWII of 750 POWs by the Germans after one American panicked and ran. The group included a New York medic, a 'captain' from Chicago, a soldier from Arizona, a former missionary and an English flyer whose plane crashed.
The dead soldiers' bodies were robbed along the lines of the American Revolutionary War by the Indians. At the end, the medic took Deek's Bible.
As luck would have it, a former student of the missionary (who'd learned to speak German in Berlin) helped them to escape back to the Allied territory. It was all about making choices, flashbacks, shell-shocked conditions, and showed the agony of war.
It was very well done, but since I have no cast list to see, I cannot list the principals. The Deacon was the major pivotal player. Too bad he had to be killed off and his Bible stolen.
