Movie Review: classic wartime flick
Summary: 5 Stars
Bogart is at his cynical best as Sargent Joe Gunn trying despartely to same his remaining crew trying to reach their lines in North africa with the Germans closing on all sides. As they flee across the desert other men join their ragtag outfit trying to survive in the desert to fight again. Face with overwhelming odds, the group try the impossible to hold a battalion of Germans while they are running out of water. Bogey is indeed his best, defining all odds. A great patriotic picture showing sacrifices men made during he war.Movie Review: Sahara

Director Korda's gritty, gutsy WWII actioner vividly evokes the particular risks and hazards of desert warfare, while showcasing Bogie in his prime, on the front lines of battle. Duryea is solid as usual as Jimmy, and character actor J. Carroll Naish lends poignancy as a good-hearted Italian prisoner caught in a war not of his own making. Suspenseful and smart , "Sahara" is a distinctive, sadly overlooked war film that makes you thirsty for more of the same.Movie Review: Sahara

I can't believe that this movie is not better known. Amazon suggested this movie and I got it as part of another purchase. It is well done and makes you feel like your there, isn't that what we want when we watch a movie.
Bogie does a great job letting you feel the pain of making life and death decision. He gives you a sense of the humanity that can be a part of war.

Bogart should have gotten an Oscar forSahara. His portrayal of the Captain
in The Caine Mutiny, was good, but the
Sargeant in Sahara, is ten times better.
The DVD's sound and picture quality is
excellent. The film is in Black and
White and as such, compliments the
story line. If anyone tries to Colorize
Sahara, they'll ruin it.
