Movie Review: If you see the concert get this.
Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent substitute for not actually seeing the concert. I would recommend purchasing, especially if you've already seen her live and want something to remember the experience by. It's also a nice addition to your Sade collection even if you have all the previous releases with the songs on them.The cinemetography could have been better in the shots of "Sade Walking", and "The Band Walking" extras.
I was really disappointed in the advertised "FREE ART PRINT". I was expecting something suitable for framing, like a poster that could be folded out and framed in a poster frame but it's just a little cardboard insert tucked inside the left frontside of the dvd cover. Very disappointed!!!!!!
However, the dvd content is excellent and I especially like the "king of sorrow" video. It really makes Sade seem real and down to earth. She does a good job in the video. I'm really surprised she hasn't tried her hand at an acting career. She is absolutely photogenic and a great look. Sade is a refreshing face with a different more ethnically diverse look than the typical hollywood starlet.
Movie Review: Better Vocal mixing than the Sade Live DVD

Many reveiwers have preferred the Audio quality of the Sade Live DVD over the Lovers Live DVD. As a hopless fan of Sade I recently (2009) purchase both DVD's and have listen to each several times.
The vocal performances in each DVD are wonderful and often far more expressive than the original CDs.
My issue with Sade Live is the mix between the Vocals and Band. In many of the songs or portions of songs, the band is way "out front" with Sade's vocal almost lost behind the band. This is also true when a male vocal was the primary performer for one of the songs. The Lovers Live DVD keeps Sade up front, not overwhelmed by the band. The balance of Vocal to Band in Lovers Live is much more precise as in the studio productions.
Overall, if Sade Live could have had the post production mixing quality of Lovers Live, I would prefer Sade Live for being more unique from the original CD versions of the songs . . . . But if you want better balance between Sade and the band, Sade Live is the clear choice.

An AWESOME concert! Sade is beautiful and commands the viewer to watch every move she makes. Now I know why the audience on the live CD sounds like they're going crazy. TAKE A LOOK!There are wonderful DVD exclusives.
-Backstage footage, a music video type documentary cut to a remix of "By Your Side". It's a real nice thing to see the band have unity & love beyond the stage.
-Message to Sade, a real hilarious look at Sade fans directed by the Polish Brothers. Sade should come out more often. These people are NUTS! It's a great piece to have on a DVD because it shows how Sade affects her fans & how sincere her fans are.
-B&W photographs, I wish there were more! They should have made a music video with these stills.
-King of Sorrow Video, sexy-sexy-sexy. The best Sade video from Sophie Muller. This alone is worth the DVD.
SADE LOVERS LIVE is a truly a wonderful DVD, Sade embraces her fans and delivers a concert of honesty and respect.
Movie Review: Sade-The most amazing singer/songwriter-So Eloquent

If you are on this page looking at DVD's of Sade, you are probaby a fan already and know what you are in for. If you are new to the music of Sade, then this DVD is a must have; especially if you havn't seen any of her concerts.Sade sings a lot of signature songs like "Cherry Pie", (my favorite), "Smooth Operator", "Your Love is King", "Love Deluxe" and many more. Recent songs of course, from the cd "Lover's Rock" are just as amazing and true to Sade style. When I say "Sade Style" what I mean is that; soulful, eloquent and most of all, love songs that could make you feel as if you were on cloud nine. She embraces her fans as she would her own child, with tenderness, care and sweetness. A classy DVD concert, from the classy band "Sade"
put it in your DVD player, light some candles and turn off the
lights, and get ready for the emotional high of a lifetime!!!
Movie Review: Good stuff, of course

If you didn't get to see Sade live in concert in 2001, have no fear-this dvd is what you need. And even if you did see them-buy it anyway. You'll feel excitement, as if you were really there. I have no real problems with this DVD (or with the concert for that matter). It offers the concert in full, plus a glimpse backstage for the Lady and for the Band, just before a concert. There are pictures to look at, the entire "King Of Sorrow" video, and the part I've only watched once, the "Message to Sade". It is, as you can tell from the title, lucky suckers that got to have a message to Sade taped and seen by the Lady herself. Of course, there's a guy who proposed, and a guy who recited poetry, and some kids who said nothing at all. It's basically a nice little package all wrapped up in a portable plastic box.
I had no technical problems or anything with the DVD itself, so here are two thumbs up. Buy the Lovers Live DVD. Live happy.
