Movie Reviews of Rumble in the Bronx

Movie Review: Wonderfully entertaining
Summary: 5 Stars

First, a disclaimer. If you take your cinematography seriously, if you are looking for good acting and a realistic story, this is not the movie for you. But if you enjoy slapstick comedy and a martial arts expert who pushes creativity to a higher level than anyone else, then Jackie Chan's Rumble in the Bronx is the movie for you!

The premise of the story is as follows: a young man flies in from Hong Kong to attend his uncle's wedding and to help him with the sale of his store. But during these events, a gang terrorizes the new store owner and causes a ruckus in Keung's neighborhood. Being the noble character that he is, Keung (Jackie Chan's character) defends the store, stands up to the gang, and as a result, winds up getting into a lot of trouble. But what will he do when the gang leader's girlfriend happens to be a neighbor that he has helped out in another situation? Which side will he take?

The action scenes in this film are phenomenal. Jackie Chan outdoes himself in using various items to defend himself and the helpless people of New York. The stunts are highlighted by his jump from one building to another (across a street, without cables or safety nets)! He even performed some of the final scenes on a broken ankle, including one in which he waterskis without the help of skis! The man is incredible!

This was the first Jackie Chan movie I had ever seen, but despite its silliness, he had me hooked! I recommend this movie highly to anyone who just wants to be entertained. Those looking for depth or any sort of "human touch" may wind up disappointed... but I was not!

Movie Review: This got an R-rating? What the Hell???!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

No Jackie Chan movie has ever deserved an R-rating, and RUMBLE IN THE BRONX is no exception. But something not good that it does deserve is a slap on the wrist for being filmed entirely in Vancouver (what New York golf course has mountains?) and the n trying to pass it off as the Bronx neighborhood of NYC.

Still, that's not the point of RUMBLE. What it is about is action, comedy, and martial arts swirled into a neat concontion that goes great when seasoned with stunts, with just a sprinkle a story, an low in brains and running-time. On those terms, RUMBLE IN THE BRONX works.

IT involes a dude named Keung (Jackie Chan), who is in New York for his uncles wedding. His Unlce's sold his grocery store to a new owner. Keung upsets a motorcycle gang when he beats up some os the members when they attempt to sholplift, and thus begins the plot, which then shifts to some mafia guys stealing some diamonds and Keung caught in the crossfire.

RUMBLE has all the karate action you'd expect from Jackie Chan, and while it may be slim on story, it's still full of everything that his many fans demand. This was a great way to introduce him to the U.S.

Movie Review: The one of akind movie you will want to see again and again!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is one of the most intertaining dvd I have. It is one of the dvd's I watch the most. You know why becouse it is not boring like other wanna be movies. It has everything to make a movie intertaining and fun to watch. I used to have the vhs version but it wore out for being watched to much. Probally becouse I lend it out to much. Now that I got the dvd i do not think it will wear out like the vhs.

This movie is so cool becouse the storie line for it is very good. It starts off when Jackie Chan arrives to New York city for his uncles wedding. He goes to his wedding and helps out in the store as he planned but other things happened that he did not plan. He ends up getting into problems with these local gang, just for protecting his uncles store. And many other things happen that you can find out by renting or buying this dvd. Like getting into problems with these wanna be FBI dudes. And other crazy stuff you do not see in any other movie! Thats why I recommend you should go out and buy or rent this dvd. If I were you I would preffer buying it becouse you are going to wnat to see it again and again!

Movie Review: Let's get ready to rumble!
Summary: 5 Stars

Before Jackie Chan was staring in movies with Chris Tucker and Jennifer Love Hewitt, he was one of the industry's greatest action heroes.

I typically try to steer clear of movies where the main character has the same name as the actor portraying him, but for Jackie Chan, I'll make an exception.

If you've grown tired of Chan's ridiculous wise-cracks (see: "Rush Hour"), and childish plots (see: "The Tuxedo"), then "Rumble in the Bronx" is the movie for you. Pay no attention to the weak acting or the paper-thin plot, the focal point of this movie is the heart-stopping action sequences.

"Rumble in the Bronx" is much more than flying fists and death-defying stunts, there's also a lesson to be learned. Jackie reminds us, "Don't let the situation change you. Change it."

Something to think about.

Movie Review: Jackie Does It Again
Summary: 5 Stars

Jackie Chan opens a can of woop *** on a group of gang members terrorizing the street. I'm sure the other dudes above have already told you about the movie, so i dont have to go into any detail. This movie opened American viewers into a whole new world, and its called Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan does unbelievable *death defying stunts* in every movie he appears in. Out of all his movies, I think this movie has to be the coolest (except the flaming gang members who kind of make it a riot). Jackie Chan has inspired me to become a Great Martial Artist, so you can just see the effect he has on people. I hope you get the movie, It's one you won't want to miss out on.
