Movie Review: A Very Funny and Watchable Movie

If you're a "Jamerican" living in Los Angeles, who feels strange about American "hip-hop" culture, you will find this film both amusing and entertaining. "Rude Boy" was made in the tradition of previous Jamaican crime dramas, such as "The Harder They Come," but this film takes itself a lot less seriously. The film is interpolated with comedic moments, such as the tough talk delivered by the overweight, Suge Knight-inspired crime kingpin "Biggs," but the film also stays true to the Jamaican crime-movie premise that crime is necessary when you're oppressed -- just as long as the crime victims deserve to be victims.
If you think favorably toward hip hop culture, or if you're expecting Rude Boy to be "Citizen Kane," then you probably won't like the film. But if you're looking for something light-hearted, entertaining, humorous and somewhat uplifting, this will be one of your favorite Jamaican crime movies.
