Movie Review: BARGAIN PRICE FOR A CLASSIC TV EXPERIENCE

Wow, look at the price. Some of us were around watching for the original airing. Some watched reruns. Now everyone, young and old, can get back into this nostalgic, but never dated ROOTS experience. This set is 4 DVD (2-sided) 7 episodes plus a bonus and over 11 1/2 hours of history presented by over 50 television and film stars. This takes the Kunta Kinte family of Alex Haley's story "Roots" and "Search" from the Civil War, the period where the TV phenomenon "Roots" ended, to modern day. The story is all about family. "The Next Generation" is as compelling as "Roots", the beginning. Both are highly recommended.
And now it comes as an economical bargain. No where will you find such star power, such action and adventure, such portrayal of American history, such devotion to family, a tale of love, devotion, sorrow, sacrifice, achievement, chance, loss, well if there is an emotion to experience it has been included several times in this set.
For those who have seen it, it is a blast from the past and just as rewarding as the first viewing. For those who have not had the experience, likely due to a young age, this will make an impression on your life you will never forget, just like your parents and grandparents had. Never will this type of thing be duplicated.
Roots and this sequel will eventually fall into the category that holds achievements like The Ten Commandments, Gone With the Wind, and other masterpiece visuals that become a must-see for every generation to come.
