Movie Reviews of Rocky Balboa

Movie Review: We Still Love Rocky
Summary: 5 Stars

I figured I would watch this movie on a Lark...We all know the jokes about rocky and infinite sequels.

The days leading up before I saw the movie, I would chant "Rocky, Rocky" to my girlfriend (not a fan). I was all but prepared for the comic spoofs I was going to make afterward...but then something happened.

As I watched the movie all jokes feel aside when I realized that this was the best Rocky ever! There was a depth and maturity to this movie, probably because we fans have been following the lives of these characters for over 30 years. There was almost an intimate documentary like quality to the picture. One can almost see themselves in Philly, going up to Rocky and shaking his hand. This character is that real.

When you watch this final installment, you will realize why you originally were drawn to the Rocky movies and character 30 years ago. Rocky is all about heart and the triumph of the human spirit. And he is all about being true to himself and this movie is all about being true to the fans.

Check out this Movie.

Movie Review: A wonderful end (hopefully) to the Rocky series.
Summary: 5 Stars

Rocky Balboa is a surprisingly good and touching movie and is very reminiscent of the original Rocky film from 1976. Though many may argue this is a just another predictable Rocky movie, I feel that Stallone has redeemed himself here and has made a fitting farewell to his most famous and enduring character.

In my opinion the acting, writing and directing are all top notch, and this film is so much more realistic than the last two Rocky movies. Stallone looks much older in this film and he's quite believable as an aging "has been" former champ.

This film is arguably one of the best in the series and it's my personal second favorite after the classic orginal. Rocky is part of American pop culture now and this film is a wonderful ending to this series. If you're not a Rocky fan to begin with, it would be pointless for you to even watch this movie. But if you are a fan, you won't be disappointed.

PS to Mr.Stallone: Please end the Rocky series here on this very high note and don't be tempted to make yet another Rocky sequel!

Movie Review: I STILL GOT THE CHILLS!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am not going to explain this movie or the plot cause every one else does this. I am going to tell you my opinion of the movie. If you read my reviews you will see what type of movies I like. I saw the original Rocky and Rocky 2 in the movie theater. I can still remember the chills I would get when the theme to Rocky would play. When I went to see this opening night and the theme started I still got the chills. It was a great moment to feel, something like that again from my childhood. Don't get me wrong I was still skeptical of this movie being any good, after Rocky 5. I was worried the same ideas would be instilled in this movie. Sylvester Stallone could not have written this movie any better, any different then how this movie was written. In my opinion this movie is as good as the first and second. Sylvester did an amazing job writing this movie and did not make this movie a joke, like it could have been very easily. You need to watch this movie to understand where I am coming from. Great emotion, action, flashbacks, and so many memories come with this movie!! 5 STARS!!

Movie Review: yo Rocky!
Summary: 5 Stars

being a big fan of Rocky and subsequently turned off by all the sequels I was a bit skeptical of this one when I first heard it was being made. I even kept putting off watching it even after everyone I know who saw it, said it was good. All right so I finally got to see it and what a great movie. The Bill Conti score is there, the turtles Cuff and Link, Maria from the old neighborhood, Paulie and his irrascible ways. Rocky now runs a restaurant in Philly named Adrian's, whose death he is still mourning, he's lost connection with his son who is trying to escape the shadow of his famous dad. Rocky's future is stuck with his past as his life consists of regaling customers with old fight stories. When he decides that he needs to fight again because "he still has stuff in the basement". The action builds slow as we are brought into the characters lives and we feel so much for these characters the story builds and builds and pulls you in. Well written and acted without all the histronics of the sequels and just the pure heart and soul of the original Rocky. Highly recommended.

Movie Review: If you eliminate Rocky's II, III, IV and V, then this is a fitting sequel.
Summary: 5 Stars

You may have never seen the original Rocky in 1976. That was when you still had to go to the theatre to see a first run flick. If you do remember the film, then if you ever hear "Gonna Fly Now" the image of a nobody, striving to become a somebody comes to the fore.

Fast forward 30 years to when this nobody has become a somebody, and now is sliding back into to used to be a somebody. This is where we find Rocky. Old, retired, frustrated at what was, what is, and what could have been.

The scene where Rocky tells Paulie of the beast within now that Adrian has gone, and his need to let it out is pure glory. We all have only so many days in our lives to get out that which lies within, before our breathe is stilled.

One last shot, not at glory, not at winning, not at taking the prize..., but one last shot at knowing what it truly means to still feel something, to be alive, and to know that it isn't over until it's over..., that is what Rocky Balboa is all about.

Highly Recommended.

Cheers!
