Movie Review: Worse than a gay Harlequin romance
Summary: 1 Stars
The setting is beautiful, the two main leads are pretty, but the pacing of this movie is so incredibly slow and the plot is so incredibly predictable (with one exception) as to make it unwatchable. The one exception to the predictability of the plot is that there's no typical romance happy ending, which makes this movie even more unsatisfying. I'm really surprised this movie was made in 2007 as you'd think there wouldn't be any 18 year old gay boys in California who didn't realize that they could be Christian and gay. I really have to disagree with another reviewer of this movie who said that it was better than Latter Days! Latter Days was a bit predictable too, but at least it had a happy ending and realistic character interactions.
Summary of Rock Haven
Is faith stronger than sexual attraction? Brady, an 18-year-old devout Christian, is given that test when he and his mother move to a scenic Northern California coastal town where he falls in love with his new neighbor Clifford. There to spread the good word, Brady instead becomes hopelessly attracted to this handsome athlete who is the complete opposite of him: vivacious and free-spirited.
