Movie Reviews of Robin and Marian

Movie Review: Who Knew
Summary: 4 Stars

Sean Connery had such skinny legs?
Legs aside, the dialog is very good, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny and always tart and unexpected. The premis is an interesting take on the ageing of men and preserving of legends. Nicole Williamson as Little John was perfect, he provided continuity and counter point to Robin. I especially liked his scene with Marion before the battle. And of course I enjoyed Sean Connory and Audrey Hepburn together. Their chemistry makes the movie but the "death bed" scene? well, imagine Wendy poisoning Peter Pan just because she "loved him more than God"?? The choice of ending nearly spoiled the movie for me. No three hankies here. But that said, I'm glad I bought it and will probably watch it again. Sean Connery, Audrey Hepburn, Nicole Williamson, Robert Shaw, and Richard Harris romp through this one. The intellegence of the dialog carries it along right up to the jarring end.

Movie Review: An ending worth sticking around for
Summary: 4 Stars

This movie was a bit slow and tedious at times. How ever I am such a huge fan of Sean Connery and Audry Hepburn, that I could not turn it off. I kept wondering what would happen next. I was waiting for something worthy of these two actors to happen.

Then It happened. (A sort of spoiler alert.) The final scene was the best love scene that I had ever saw in my whole life. It was highly emotional, as was I. I felt their pain, as I understood what the whole point of the movie was, love and sacrifice. It was a memorable ending to a movie that I will have to watch several times to be able to fully understand the depth of it.

I highly recommend this movie to all adults, because we have all suffered love, loss, and aging therefore we can relate to these characters.

Movie Review: Well done except . . .
Summary: 4 Stars

Since others before me have done a better job than I could have of describing this version of Robin Hood, I won't go into the major portion of this film. I will say that Robert Shaw as the Sheriff of Nottingham was a relief. It seems most of Shaw's roles are of people who are extremely intense and I began to think that that was the actor's character too.
But the ending disappointed me. I can buy into the idea that Marion was wiser than Robin about his heyday being over. But that translates into murdering him in the name of love??? That's just a little too "romance novel" for me. It spoils what was otherwise a very well done love story. Perhaps the title should be changed to "Mom Knows Best."

Movie Review: Gritty
Summary: 4 Stars

Very raw. Not your typical Hollywood production. These two are no longer spring chickens either. More of the reality of an old love than the frills. Audrey Hepburn only gets better with age, and the butt shot of Sean Connery was an unexpected, funny bonus. This isn't a film I would purchase and watch over and over, but I enjoyed it. I give it 3 1/2 stars.

A different take on ROBIN Hood, but if you like sean Conrey you will love the movie. Audrey Hepburn is great as usual. Lots of action.
