Movie Reviews of Road House (Fox Film Noir)Movie Review: Ida on Piano Steals the Show. Summary: 4 Stars
A great beginning and ending-- with a little too soapy middle for me. Richard Widmark is always a great psycho-type character. The best scene for me is Ida Lupino's first number, ONE FOR MY BABY AND ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD, by Johnny Mercer. That hoarse voice is so sexy--in my mind she does this song better than Ella and better than Billie Holiday (Mercer's recording of his own song is way too white bread tame for me.) Celeste Holm's line after the song is one I'll never forget. --by Sam Yulish, author of WHERE HAVE ALL THE HIPPIES GONE?

Movie Review: Great acting takes usual story up a notch Summary: 4 Stars
The basic story of Road House is the love triangle, but Cornell Wilde, Richard Widmark and especially Ida Lupino give the story a royal treatment. The atmosphere creates the 'noir' feel. Lupino is the best under playing her femme fatale role. WIdmark as always is the heel, but this movie is no pat rendering of the basic themes.
Movie Review: Road House Summary: 4 Stars
An attractive film, especially with Ida Lupino's singing and acting, not to mention Richard Widmark, also excellent.
Movie Review: Excellent Film Noir Summary: 4 Stars
Wonderful Film Noir movie. Four great performances from Ida Lupine, Richard Widmark, Cornel Wilde and Celeste Holm
