Movie Review: MICHAEL MANNING REVIEW OF LIVE IN ROCKFORD
Summary: 5 Stars
Having had the privilege of working with Rick and his staff at a fund raiser, I am also a super fan. Rick Springfield is without a doubt, the most under-rated guitarist and composer in today's music scene. If you doubt this, the price of the DVD is worth just his performance of Jimi Hendrix's "Red House" alone. If there was a photo in any dictionary next to the word "Determination", then Rick Springfield's picture would be suitably placed with that word. Through hard work, he became the epitome of "The American Dream". His current music reflects an edgier, sledge hammer rock and roll with high energy and plenty of musical chops. Further, each concert is communal. Believe me, I've been to several shows. And each one is fresh and backed with a rhythm line up that is second to none. Rick Springfield "Live in Rockford" is the personification to me about what a Rock and Roll concert experience should be. Having been a Rick Springfield fan for the last 35 (!!!!!!) years, I feel worthy to opine about his latest DVD endeavor. Simply put, this is Rick doing what Rick does best! I have been lucky enough to see him perform live over half a dozen times since his 1993 club tour and can honestly say that each time I was left wanting more and anticipating his next work! This DVD was no acception! There are very few things in my life that have stood the test of time , but this man and his music have consistantly been there (I'm sure his many fans will agree) and provided a kind of soundtrack to my life. I, for one, cannot wait for his next production. Whether it be CD, DVD, movie or whatever, Rick aims to please! So far he hasn't let me down!Movie Review: Rick Springfield sure has staying power!

The dvd captures the spirit, enthusiasm and energy of a live Rick concert. I was thrilled to buy it and watch it over and over! He is clearly still live & kickin', moves around kicking, swirling, spinning, guitar strumming even more than the 80s. Your favs and a few new wonders are in the tracks and the man's gorgeous green eyes show up quite well on screen. It's fun seeing his audience interaction and I highly recommend the cd to fans and non fans alike. Just a fun energetic viewing experience. He got my State of the Heart....
Movie Review: Unbelievable live experience captured on DVD

I recently attended Rick's show in Stafford, Texas (Oct 2006) and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Rockford DVD had just been released. Watching this DVD enables me to relive the concert - which for anyone who has ever attended a Rick concert- is a great thing! I continue to be blown away by his guitar talent, energy, and love for his audience and performing. If you've not seen the recent "Rick Springfield", I highly suggest you take a peek.
