Movie Review: Delightful film with two great ladies

I saw this film several times in the theatre and have a copy on laser disc. I am very happy that it's finally coming out on DVD. Even though it's not a heavy, dark drama, it was never supposed to be. Under Cukor's expertise, Bergen and Bisset shine in their roles as best friends who find themselves at the opposite ends of the author's life. Bisset is a serious, indepth writer whose books are critical but not financial successes. Bergan falls into writing and becomes both rich and famous by pumping out Jacqueline Susann-style books. It follows the two througout several different times of their lives going through good and bad times in their friendship but in the end, as expected, they remember what brought them together and what holds them together. Enjoy the film for what it is worth. It entertains and I love watching Bergen and Bisset together. (actually I miss Ms. Bisset, I wish she'd come out of retirement).Movie Review: Yay!!! This is a wonderful favorite "guilty pleasure"--George Cukor's last film, with Bergen & Bissett, fabulously fun dialogue, literary parties, New York, sophisticated parties, writerly angst, lots of liquor, conflicts and betrayals, and all winding up in front of a fireplace at a Connecticut cabin with shoes off and a bottle of booze. What's not to like?
****But please, someone, anyone--is this the original theatrical release for sure?
Movie Review: FINALLY, THE UNCUT VERSION IS RELEASED ON DVD

Yep, the good news is that MGM-Warner has finally done the right thing and has released the UNCUT, UNBLEEPED version of this fine film. No only that, this time (unlike the last awful VHS release) round the video and audio quality are nice. The color of the video is nicely saturated and the audio is clear. Finally, a decent copy of George Cukor's final film. This movie grows on you and it has two wonderful performances by Jacqueline Bisset and Candice Bergen.Movie Review: Hopefully uncut

This had better be the uncut original theatrical version, and not the laundered M-G-M VHS version that was released several years ago. I stupidly bought that, without reading the on-line reviews, and was dumbfounded at the ten minutes worth of trims. Hello, there's worse than what was cut on commercial television. A classic movie. The last movie that George Cukor directed. It's a movie movie with all the sentimentality and sex you would expect from a classic movie. A fine performance by Jacqueline Bisset but Candice Bergen steals the show. She is hilarious. I highly recommend this movie. For me it has become a perennial favorite because it has a Christmas and New Years scene.
