Movie Reviews of RevengeMovie Review: Both sides of Revenge Summary: 5 StarsI saw this movie at the theater. I am latin and Irish. I hate to say this but, you have all missed the point of this story. Kevin's character was a friend of Anthony Quinn's character. He was kind to Costners' character, no matter what. The betrayal came from Costners character and Tibey's wife...Under Tibey's own roof. What kind of friend and wife is that..?? Tibey had to act on his anger and vile betrayal coming from his best friend and his wife.. How could he continue to command respect from his men? I know it sounds horrible, but she knew what would happen if she messed around like this..she had known him all her life. Kevin's character as well...he had been his friend for a long time...he knew what Tibey would do. Did he think he would just forget about it and go on with his life..? Impossible. Don't forget. the one who was betrayed by both was Tibey... I own the director's cut. It is even more detailed than what I saw in the movie theater.
I can't fault Tibey for his actions. Even if I know they are wrong. No latin man is going to allow this to happen and not seek revenge, not this extreme, but there will be retaliation.
Summary of RevengeKevin costner and anthony quinn costar as old friends turned bitter enemies in this story of passion love and betrayal. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 12/21/2004 Starring: Kevin Costner Anthony Quinn Run time: 124 minutes Rating: R Director: Tony Scott This often grisly, arguably racist movie stars Kevin Costner as a U.S. Navy pilot who is the improbable friend of a powerful, vaguely criminal Mexican millionaire (Anthony Quinn). While visiting the latter on his estate, Costner's character has an affair with his host's gorgeous young wife (Madeline Stowe), for which he is almost beaten to death and the wife mutilated and turned into a junkie prostitute (nice, eh?). The hero seeks retaliation, and you may want the same against director Tony Scott, who makes the navy sequences look like beefcake excerpts from his earlier hit film, Top Gun. However, if you can stand the garishness, then perhaps the extreme violence won't be too bothersome, either. But expect a rough time either way. --Tom Keogh Stills from Revenge (click for larger image) More Revenge on Amazon.com
