Movie Reviews of Relative Values

Movie Review: Addicted!
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently watched this movie for the first time. Now I cannot stop. I have to watch it at least once every three days or I start getting cravings.

It's just refreshing to find a talky movie that has people interacting, that is actually addictively enjoyable - no fancy special effects that take the place of a decent story, no trying to shock the audience with a horribly violent opening (and ending), no trying to be melodramatic like those movies trying desperately to be "epic". Just an enjoyable feast of cuteness.

Personally I don't always want to know who the actors are and how they "played"; I myself like to lose myself in the fantasy on the screen where the characters are who they are (as opposed to "played" by so and so). Except of course anybody would recognize the superb Julie Andrews. And she's fantastic in this movie.

So of course is her "secretary/friend" in this movie - the transformation was simple yet fantastic!

I would actually say everybody was fantastic in this movie. I think this might be one of my favorite kind of movies, as I've read they're called "drawing room comedies". Or somethingorother.

The only reason you might not enjoy this movie is if you expected something else. Don't expect what it's not. This is for people with good taste :)

Movie Review: If you like "Philadelphia Story," you'll like this too
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this on a lark (basically because of the price, and I needed something to bring my order to $25 for free shipping, plus anything starring Julie Andrews HAS to be worth while, right?). Good choice! This has turned out to be one of my favorites! Every time I watch it I appreciate more and more how smart and well executed this little farce is. Polished script, great casting of the Brits (the maid Moxie is the REAL star--she positively makes the film), and drop-dead gorgeous sets. Certainly nothing much happens in the end--it's all about what happens in the middle. If you require "action" (read chases, explosions, blood) or "evil threatens good" or earth-changing conclusions, this film is not for you. But if you like smart comedy with hilarious dialog and some truly memorable inspired acting, you'll LOVE this whimsey film. A GREAT new serendipitous addition to my DVD library!!

Movie Review: Witty, Charming, Hilarious -- Absolutely Wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

This film is, as stated above, absolutely wonderful! The first time I watched it I could not stop laughing and at the finish of the film, I was smiling from ear to ear. Julie Andrews was perfectly cast as the charming and witty Lady Marshwood who, upon learning of her son's engagement to a "ghastly" American actress, decides to take matters into her own hands. With all of the surprises and comic twists this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat laughing and cheering from start to finish with never a dull moment. Backed up by a splendid supporting cast including Colin Firth and Sophie Tomphson - who practically steals the show as Lady Marshwood's "personal maid and friend." This film has a little something for everyone - A must see!

Movie Review: Relatively Good
Summary: 5 Stars

Miranda Frayle leaves her boyfriend for an English nobleman. When the two announce their engagement, the press has a field day. Some things don't change. Miranda was hiding her past because she feared that she would be discovered and dissed. She wanted more than what she had and that was fame and fortune. She really loves her movie star boyfriend he won't do.
"Relative Values" is a good movie to watch because it deals with family, social upbringing, and personal conflicts. Jeanne Tripplehorn does a great impression of a movie starlet and Colin Firth is superb in his performance as a gay nobleman.

Movie Review: A sweet movie with touching themes
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my favoriet movie I have ever seen. At first i bought this beacuse Collin Firth is in it but when i got it I discovered that he plays a very small role. BUT this movie is wonderful full of wit and humor there are lots of cute one liners that i love to listen to over and over again. This is one of those movies that if you are having a bad day you can pop it into the computer and laugh at colin (he is sooo funn in this movie) I love it and highly recomind it.
