Movie Reviews of Redline

Movie Review: "The Fast and the Furious" It Is Not
Summary: 1 Stars

OK, I knew this film was not going to be a "masterpiece" or anything. I knew it is not a contender for Oscar or Golden Globe. It is not hard for us to imagine what the story of "Redline" would be like as "Redline" happens to be one of the working titles of "The Fast and the Furious," but that is fine. Despite its silly and incredible story, I liked "The Fast and the Furious" series and the car race scenes (yes, I have seen all of them).

Sadly "Redline" directed by stunt-turned-director Andy Cheng is not as enjoyable as any of them, not even the second "FF" which I consider the least successful of the three. Actually, "Redline" turned out much worse than I expected in more than one way (and I didn't expect very much).

As other reviewers have rightly pointed out here, "Redline" has no coherent storyline, no charismatic actor (where is Vin Diesel?) or no great acting; instead it has so many stereotypical or unbelievable characters (Eddie Griffin's character and a singer/street car driver played by Nadia Bjorlin are easily the worst), but there is more to this terribly directed film.

I thought there should be a great car action or two that would make up for the lack of reasonable story or decent acting. I was wrong. Yes, you will be seeing cool cars running wildly, but the film's "action" scenes, all poorly-shot and edited, always remain un-thrilling throughout and the results of the race are transparent from thousand miles away. Moreover, these illegal racers cause car crashes on the road involving innocent vehicles, and we are supposed to cheer for them.

According to IMDb, a Porsche ($400,000 worth) was really used in a car crash scene. I should report this as trivia here. Actually this wasted car is the only thing I find really interesting in "Redline."

Movie Review: This movie is a sign of the end times!
Summary: 1 Stars

This movie is just so bad it's scary. The only interesting part of the movie is the intro, then after that it is all down hill. I guess they tried to balance out bad acting and a poor plot with models and fast cars. Well let me say this might have been a good movie had no one opened their mouth. Figuring out the plot is worse that Chinese water torture. It's really like 2 bad movies mashed into one, to create one big horrible ball of doodoo. It's like a bad car movie, and some cheesy mobster movie all rolled into 1. The only thing worth watching in this film are the cars, and even they show them horribly. I've seen better racing scenes in a video game. This movie is so bad that I think it ruined everyones career that was in it. I haven't seen or heard from anyone that was in this film. Even Eddie Griffins career is down the tubes. This movie is so horendous that copies of it should be sent to Iraq to help fight the war on terror. I remember when I went to rent this movie, and (thank God that I rented it!) the clerk girl told me that it was bad. I mean I've rented hundreds of movies, and this is the first time a movie was so bad they cared enough to tell me, that right there scared me. This Movie should never be brought, rented, or watched for that matter. Do yourself and all of humanity a favor and never watch this movie, matter of fact if you ever by chance run into it at a video store, or local DVD outlet DESTROY IT! SMASH IT! OBLITERATE IT! FOR THE SAKE AND FUTURE OF ALL MANKIND!

Movie Review: car crashes and cleavage
Summary: 1 Stars

Hitting what may well be a new low in pointless moviemaking, "Redline" is strictly for all those potbellied cases of arrested development who have never moved beyond the tacky, car-and-sex-drenched fantasies of puberty. In this mind-numbingly inane racing melodrama, million dollar sports cars race all over creation going vroom-vroom while submissive, scantily clad bimbos stand around showing off their cleavage. What 13-year old boy - or the middle-aged equivalent thereof - could resist such an offering?

This is a work of such perfect, unimaginable awfulness that there simply has to be a special place reserved for it in some hall of movie infamy. The "plot" is so utterly preposterous and incoherent that it is not worth the time or effort it would take to either recap or discuss it. The acting is laughable, while the photography and editing are amateurish in the extreme. Heck, even the racing scenes themselves lack conviction and excitement.

If you squint hard enough, you might be able to view the whole thing simply as "camp" - though I'd hate to give the people who made this film that much credit.

"Redline" has all the depth, professionalism and cinematic expertise of a high school video project. A true embarrassment for all concerned.

Movie Review: Red Line should have been sidelined.
Summary: 1 Stars

I'm not sure who gave this film the "green light" to be made, but fans of this genre will be woefully disappointed with this inept film.

The cars in this film are awesome, the racing and crash sequences are thrilling, and the women are out of this world knockouts, but these three things alone or in any combination can't save a film. The script was apparently written by one barely out of grammar school since no one utters an intelligent thought throughout this lame film. The plot suffers from . . . oh come on, what plot!!???!!!! The actors, and I mean ALL the actors could be out-acted by TV commercial actors at any given moment. I've seen more sparkle in the eyes of the models on "The Price is Right" than any five women in this film combined. They all look like they are reading their lines off of the giant billboards in the background.

Although the story is highly predictable, the car races are, nevertheless, suspenseful and fun to watch. The photography and stunt work in the film are very admirable and as expected for this genre. Sadly, these are the only compliments I can really give this film. I know car enthusiasts will want to crucify me for hammering this film, but sexy girls and fast cars do not make a film of any quality.

Movie Review: Redline could have been a much better fim
Summary: 1 Stars

I've never seen a worse film put together than Redline in my life. Its ashame, but with alittle more effort,it could have been great. The girls and cars were beutifull, and some of the actors were not that bad, especially the main guy,Nathan Phillips, who reminded me alot like Health Leager. The ending was alittle thrilling and interesting, but who ever editted this movie should be fired.
