Movie Reviews of Red Violin

Movie Review: ENTHRALLING
Summary: 5 Stars

I was fortunate enough to see this movie in the theater when it first came out. As my daughter grew up and became interested in the violin, taking lessons, I kept thinking about how much she would enjoy this movie. I eventually purchased it for her as a gift, and when we watched it together, she was positively entrhralled. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it again myself. Although it contains some subtitles when the action takes place in non-English-speaking countries, they are not at all distracting, nor do they make the film any more difficult to view and/or understand. The Red Violin has something for nearly everyone: history, romance, mystery, suspense, and intrigue.

Movie Review: Amazing movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a beautiful film with a great plot and a really intriguing twist ending. You must be able to handle subtitles unless you can speak German, Italian, and a little French. :) The movie explains the "fortune" of a fictional violin as time and history pass. The scenery is beautiful as the story moves through German monasteries, Eastern Europe, the English countryside, and finally China. Some of the effects are dated, but the films makes up for it with an amazing score played by Joshua Bell.

Great movie, a bit intellectual - you have to pay attention or the entire thing is lost - but completely worth adding to your personal collection.

Movie Review: Again and again
Summary: 5 Stars

Layer upon layer, this film reveals more upon each viewing. This is one of those curl-up on the couch type of films that never disappoints and transports the viewer back in time- with multiple shifts, and repeats key sequences each time advancing the immediate story a bit further. So there is ultimately a mystery unfolding and we are completely caught up in it, along with the fascinating motivations and impulses that compel each possessor or would-be possessor of the Red Violin. The music is integral and also drives the narrative, not just pretty movie music.
One of my favorites!

Movie Review: A MUST SEE
Summary: 5 Stars

I believe this movie was a sleeper - a real blockbuster that no one heard about. I think this is another one of my top favorites of all time. There wasn't a dull or sleepy moment throughout the entire movie. It was fascinating and interesting as the violin traveled through time and the ending made me laugh and squeal with delight. The only thing I had a problem with was knowing he was taking a multimillion dollar violin home to his kid. That almost gave me a heart attack. Besides that, it is a movie that I have watched again and again. It is always thrilling and fun to watch.
