Movie Reviews of Real Men

Movie Review: A Cut Above Other 80s Comedies
Summary: 5 Stars

Ya gotta love MGM for releasing those "forgotten" films that we all grew up with like Mannequin for example. Real Men is one of those films that you probably caught yourself watching on HBO more than once back in the day. In fact, you probably don't even remember the name of the film, but remember John Ritter and Jim Belushi and the aliens and the glass of water, and of course the S&M girl. I've always loved this movie. It's one of the few I can still laugh at after all these years, and that's because it was exceptionally well written. Very witty and very funny, with two fantastic performances from it's leads. Why didn't writer/director Dennis Feldman ever go on to do anything else? Sure he was writer of the rotten sci-fi horror flick Virus with Jamie Lee Curtis, but I'm not sure he wants people to know that. If you missed this the first time around, I'd suggest renting it.

Movie Review: Real Men Rock!
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't begin to explain to anyone the humor here. I totally enjoy the slapstick, dry corny humor that flows in this film. Belushi and Ritter have a awesome chemistry.

"AH"!there are so many little funny gags in this film. After all whom among us would believe that some agent from the CIA,or DEA,FBI, needed my
assistance to save the world,"HA"! yeah right. I would've reacted just like Bob , if it were me .

I love Diane Thorn jumping on Bob like a dog in heat, NIIICE. Not back for and old school sex goddess. That scene totally kept my interest as to what was going to happen to Bob Wilson next. I rate this movie high on my list of movies i watch over and over and over again. Don't you?

Movie Review: Make way for "Real Men."
Summary: 5 Stars

The story opens with Stone Wall holding a glass of water and walking in the woods. He is shot and the whole world is in danger because of it. Bob Wilson (John Ritter) is a dead ringer for the only person that can save the world by negotiating with aliens. Who will recruit and train him? Yep Nick ParanDello (James Belushi.) Will they be able to take on the CIA, KGB, and a bunch of other clowns? And if so will the mission be accomplished? And if he lives, what effect will this experience have on Bob Wilson's personality?

I am not about to tell all the details, as that is the movie, however Dyanne Thorne plays "Dad." Now where have we seen her before?

Movie Review: Real Men
Summary: 5 Stars

"Did I tell you, you are doing a good job today?" Those lines should have been classic! It's an inside joke. This gem has been in my collection for many years. Now I have it on DVD. I sent the other copy to my buddy.

John Ritter and Jim Belushi have never been funnier! Jim Belushi patronizes John Ritter unmercifully as he teaches a mild mannered suburbanite to become a super spy. John Ritter wonders why his home is surrounded and asks, "Are they going to shoot us?" Jim replies, "That's why they brought the guns, Bob."

I don't want to spill too many beans about it. This is one of those things that is too good to share.

Movie Review: Great acting matches quirky storyline.
Summary: 5 Stars

Five stars, no doubt. This one is filed under "Classics". I first saw it on the NBC, Saturday afternoon movie in the 80's when I had nothing better to do but watch, so I did, and got treated to the best Belushi or Ritter film that I have ever seen! Talk about chemistry between actors, these guys had it going on. The kind of interaction every director dreams of. I don't think any other actors could pull it off like these two did. Do yourself a favor and get it. I was laughing the whole time.
