Movie Reviews of Re-Animator (2 Disc Set + Highlighter)Movie Review: Re-Animator: Special Edition Summary: 5 Stars
The latest release of "Re-animator" does actually contain elements of previous releases, stemming back to its initial laser-disc, extra-laden presentation in the 1990s.
What is fetching in this latest release is a very comprehensive documentary, which subtly conveys Stuart Gordon's expertise as a director. Additionally, the transfer looks grander (and gorier) than ever before, and the unqiue packaging should be enticing to any horror-movie collector.
Indeed, if one has never purchased "Re-animator" before on DVD (or VHS/Laser Disc), this edition will prove quite mind-blowing. For those who have purchased the movie before (or who have simply viewed it many times over in the past), there is still enough new fringe offerings to make this entry a glorious catch, especially if one can obtain the highlighter/syringe collectible as part of the packaging.
"Re-animator" is an indisputable classic, and this particular special-edition is the ultimate to possess to date.
Movie Review: Re-Animator Summary: 5 Stars
Stuart Gordon's hilariously campy gore-fest is loosely based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft, but draws heavily on old-fashioned horror like "Frankenstein" and George Romero's zombie flicks. Combs gives his Herbert just the right mix of nerdy gravitas and lunatic ambition, while Gale vamps it up as a jealous prof who literally loses his head over his student's potion, only to commit a foul act with the dean's daughter, played by comely Barbara Crampton. Things get grisly when bone-saws are marshalled to quell the violent, re-animated cadavers, but it's all in good fun. Like a version of "Night of the Living Dead" directed by the staff of Mad Magazine, "Re-Animator" will keep you in stitches.

Movie Review: Re-animated to contemporary horror! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not a huge fan of contemporary horror but I watched this one a few years back and I really enjoyed it -- to the degree that I've viewed it multiple times since.
It's a tongue-in-cheek Frankenstein ripoff, but not really hokey at all. And, it's actually scary at certain moments of suspense. This film is well-done.
If you're not much of a horror film fan but would enjoy watching such a movie once in awhile, this would be a great one for you. But Cat Lovers beware -- Old Puss (the stuffed cat) gets some really abusive treatment during the young doctor's experiments!
This one's a hoot!
Movie Review: Without doubt one of the greatest horrors - ever. Summary: 5 Stars
I've loved this movie ever since watching it as an early teen (thanks dad!)
Jeffrey Combs is startling as Herbert West. This film manages to be scary, disturbing and funny at the same time.
The last 20 minutes have to be seen to be believed, the "giving head" scene is notorious - and for good reason.
Good to see this one remastered in all it's glory, as soon as I heard the brilliant theme music it brought me back to happy times.
Thanks Mr Gordon, long may you continue to bring H.P.Lovecraft to us movie watchers.
Thanks for reading, enjoy.
