Movie Reviews of Raw Food Made EasyMovie Review: Perfect book if you are going raw Summary: 5 Stars
Recently I discovered eating raw. I went to my doctor's for my annual check up and did a blood test. I was totally freaked to discover my blood sugar was way too high. In a panic I called my sister and explained what was happening. In turn she told me about a book she had about getting started on eating raw. I read it, and completely changed how I ate that day. I lost 25 lbs in the first 3 weeks! And my doctor told me that if everybody had done what I just did she would be out of a job! That spoke volumes to me.
I should say that I am not 100% raw, nor do I ever intend on being 100% raw. Nor will I ever give up meat, as I am a carnivore at heart! Yes, I do cook the meat(it's a question that I'm asked all the time). I apply the 80/20 rule, and since I started 4 months ago I have lost 35 lbs and still appear to be losing. I have had absolutely no problems losing that much weight so quickly and my doctor didn't seem the least bit concerned, or surprised.
I've heard raw is the latest rage. This is not a fad diet for me. If I plan on not being a diabetic I'm going to have to maintain this life style change. Which is why I hate people calling it a diet, this is not Jenny Craig, or any of those other money making joke diets. The best part is that I love it! The craving for sweet or salty foods disappeared as soon as I started eating all those fruits. Plus, food just tastes so much better eaten raw.
My problem was that I needed to take my raw experience to the next level. The one thing I truly miss about my old eating habits is the actual cooking of the food. Since I don't cook nearly as much as I used to I needed to find a close second. I started looking a books on preparing raw foods, but they contained way more information than I needed, or wanted. A friend, who knew I had gone raw showed me her copy of this book. As soon as I started skimming the pages I knew I had found exactly what I needed to get me going. I've tried a couple of recipes (loved them!) and can't wait to test out more. Even my husband is digging eating this way.
Movie Review: Very thorough Summary: 5 Stars
If you're new to the raw diet, this DVD is a great place to start as it is very thorough. There's instructions of knife technique (from very basic slicing to more complicated slicing), on equipment to buy (what size, which brand), as well as many recipes to try (you can quickly select recipes to try from the main menu and the exact recipes are in the booklet included with the DVD). The recipes Jennifer Cornbleet demonstrates how to make are:
Breakfast
-- fruit smooothie
-- green juice
-- granola with almond milk
Lunch
-- garden soup
-- pate served with crudites
-- tomato stacks with pesto sauce
-- sushi
Dinner
-- ranch dressing for salad
-- Mediterranean kale
-- zucchini pasta
Dessert
-- chocolate mousse tart
These recipes are enough to get the beginner started and they don't require any exotic, hard-to-find ingredients either. The only ingredients you might have trouble finding are agave nectar and raw cacao powder.
These recipes also don't require a dehydrator. The only equipment you need for the majority of these recipes are either a blender or a food processor. The green juice requires a juicer and the zucchini pasta requires a spiral slicer (but you can use a veggie peeler if you don't have a spiral slicer).
While she's preparing the dishes, Cornbleet explains exactly what she's doing in a friendly and clear voice, which is a bonus. Another bonus is at the end of the DVD, she tells you which supplies to pack when you're travelling so you won't be forced to abandon this diet when you're away from home.
Highly recommended for the beginner.
Movie Review: Top of the list Summary: 5 Stars
I have purchased about 7 raw food DVDs. My top picks this one and Living on Live Food by Alissa Cohen. I like them equally well and would recommend both but I will tell you the differences between the two.
1. This is great for 1 or 2 people
2. These recipes are all very simple (the Alissa Cohen book has a few more gourmet recipes)
3. This one speaks on traveling and staying raw
4. This video is easier to use without the book than the Alissa Cohen one
One thing I would say is that if you are starting off raw and do not want to or can not afford to invest in the high end juicer- wait. Go online to YouTube and find directions on using a high powered blender with a nut milk bag. Unfortunately neither of these videos demos that.
The product description is very accurate and I do not think that you will be disappointed with this DVD. I re-watch it all the time.
Movie Review: She Really Makes This Easy Summary: 5 Stars
Wow.
This is a really informative DVD package. It includes a range of meals and snacks from almond milk, smoothies and green juice to lunches, dinners and desserts.
The production quality is top-notch. The author is an obvious expert who seems to really enjoy sharing her knowledge. And the foods she prepares aren't intimidating or time-intensive.
There is a 12-page companion booklet which includes equipment suggestions, recipes and even travel tips for healthy eating on the road. I would have preferred it be more comprehensive, but I guess that's what her original best-selling book is for.
It's a great resource which will have you eating healthy and feeling fantastic.
And if you're not already incorporating a lot of raw foods into your current diet, who knows? This could actually save your life.
Movie Review: Great for us beginners Summary: 5 Stars
I saw clips of this dvd on YouTube and knew it was going to be perfect for us newbies to the raw food lifestyle. Jennifer Cornbleet comes across with a crisp, friendly, no-nonsense style that keeps you interested and focused on her teaching. She covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, snacks, smoothies, traveling in the raw, simple kitchen techniques, and appliances that will help you prepare your raw foods. She shows you how to roll California Rolls, chiffonade vegetables, attractively cut veggies and more.
You can play each section or you can play all. I bought this video along with the book and I'm glad I did. I'll watch this over and over. It has inspired my daughters and me to strive for raw food eating. Definitely worth the money!
Jennifer, please make a video to go with your desserts book!
