Movie Reviews of Ranma 1/2: Season One: The Digital Dojo; TV Anime Season 1 DVD Box Set

Movie Review: Laugh out loud silliness
Summary: 4 Stars

A young martial artist named Ranma Saotome traveled with his father to China on a training mission. They begin training on a cursed ground with many springs. Falling into one of the these springs changes the person into whatever or whoever died there. For Ranmas bad luck he was turned into a young girl. Now, when hit with cold water he changes into a girl instantly with hot water reversing the change. On top of this, back in Japan he's forced into an engagement with a girl that hates boys. Too bad for him this is only the beginning of his troubles.

Up to this day Ranma 1/2 has been one of the silliest and most fun series I have ever seen. Plus, you won't find a die hard anime fan who hasn't seen it yet. Most people are hooked within the very first episodes and become addicted with very good reasons. New anime fans should know this series is by Rumiko Takahashi. The woman behind the half demon Inuyasha.

Ranma 1/2 is an easy to like light hearted show. The characters are energetic and have very fun personalities. The new characters introduced always bring something alot more different from what you seen before. The episodes are packed with comedic moments. Ranma has to deal with a love sick guy who is obsessed with his female counterpart. Plus a girl who wants to kill his female counterpart and marry the male side. The writing is just crazy at times.

For a series that debut in the late 80's. The animation isn't too bad. Later on in the series it gets alot better. The soundtrack is very good and the opening theme has a catchy tune.

This first season contains the first 18 episodes on 4 disk. I highly recommend to anime fans that enjoy japanese comedy. Ranma 1/2 has a bit of action, romance, of course comedy, and fan service. If you plan on getting into this series, then you have to know it's a pretty long cash cow. It contains about a 161 episodes with a few movies. I suggest this to those who love to collect long series.

Movie Review: Ranma 1/2 Series Opener!
Summary: 5 Stars

In my opinion this and season 2 are the best seasons of Ranma 1/2. I first watched this series when I was much younger and its still something I can put in the DVD player and watch some 10 years later. Nostalgia for once hasn't failed me.

Movie Review: The Season That Started Me Off On The Ranma Universe
Summary: 5 Stars

Before This set I usually had only gotten mecha animes or more serious dramatic anime like Gundam Wing or Hellsing but no funny animes. I got this at almost the same time as the Full Metal Panic box set and was surprised at how entertaining and hilarious this show really was. I think it really helped my anime collection a lot after getting the first season of Ranma since after that I started going after both my previous animes as well as the more funny and light-hearted animes like Azumanga Daioh and Galaxy Angels an the like. Like my previous reviews of the other Ranma Seasons the video is good but not as great as you get with the newer anime shows like Bleach or Full Metal Alchemist the video is full screen with stereo English audio or Japanese audio both voice actors
for both the Japanese or English audio are very good though and most of the episodes are very funny though I liked it when the creators for the show brought in Happosai the very lecherous character in season two. So if your like me and are buying just the serious,dramatic,hard-core animes
I say give this series a try you will not be disappointed...

Movie Review: A very entertaining series
Summary: 4 Stars

This box set contains the first eighteen episodes of the classic anime series, Ranma 1/2. There's very little in the way of special features in the set (there's textless versions of the opening and the three ending sequences, and there's also the English credits).

Although this is a rather "no-frills" DVD set, the series itself is quite enjoyable. Normally, I would say the price of this set is a bit high for such a "no-frills" set, but the episodes in and of themselves are worth the cost of the set, especially when you factor in how old the property is now.

Movie Review: Ranma 1/2 - Loved It
Summary: 5 Stars

Very funny series by Rumiko Takahasi. I loved Inuyasha and this is just as exciting. Can't wait to buy the remaining seasons.
