Movie Reviews of Rambo [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Truly Amazing, Very Worthy of RAMBO series Summary: 5 Stars
The action was superb, the cinematography was excellent. Even though Stallone is much older now compared to the first three films in this series, he looks good, in fact great for his age, although he may have too much muscle on him. He brings the RAMBO character back to life wonderfully. The story of this RAMBO is reminiscient of the second and third RAMBO films where he has to go back in action, although this time around, there is much more intelligent writing in the film which integrates situations that are actually thriving in present day. THis movie was definitely worth my time. I only see about six movies in the theater in a year, the rest are on DVD, so I am very choosy about what I see in theaters. There's a few minutes of the movie where you will wonder why, but that is true with every movie you see, but the other 96% of the movie is pure action and adventure, and this will keep you on the edge of your seat. I have to say that this movie is very violent, but necessary, but you must overlook the violence to see the true picture and meaning being portrayed. Superbly-shot scenes, and even the dialogue is interesting. This movie is fantastic on Blu-ray or on standard DVD.
Movie Review: Best Rambo Yet Summary: 5 Stars
Remember back in the day when action movies were made for us guys? Before hollywood got soft and decided to mass market watered down, politically correct drivel, we had no holds barred violence in movies and that was a good thing. This movie seems so out of place in todays day and age because its not afraid to get up close and personal when it comes to that sort of thing. Its the best rambo yet, and definitely not for the kids. I just hope maybe someone out in hollywood will get a clue and make some more action flicks like this one.
The video quality on blu ray of this title is good, but not the best available in hi def. Some scenes are startling in vivid detail, while others are just decent. The sound is absolutely top notch, and your cheating yourself if you dont blast the volume on your 5.1/7.1 setup till your ears ring from the incessant gunfire barraging your eardrums.
Overall, this is simply a must own if you are an action movie fan and have a blu ray player. This is old school action through and through. Just dont get all political and try to read into the plot, your really missing the point if thats all you can criticize in the movie.
Movie Review: Sure, you could think about what this movie might say, or you just watch it and kill time Summary: 5 Stars
Well, there are tons of people writing reviews about this movie and how it really says something about the plight of those less fortunate who actually do live in Rambo's world of fear, poverty, and oppression. It really is sad, and I don't mean to belittle their suffering, because it is horrible.
That being said, this is an action movie, and it's a pretty good one at that. Don't come looking for some kind of stupid love story or a weak coming-of-age drama here. There may be some of that stuff, sure, but it is handled like everything else in this movie, with sheer over-the-top explicit violence and vehicle-mounted armaments. I think I just spoiled the plot for you.
If you are looking for a way to kill a couple hours and need something a little different, give this a shot. While the action isn't non-stop, when it's there it's pretty insane. The last 15 minutes are why surround sound and subs were invented; take everything you know about a final action sequence and then double it.
Is this a great movie, probably not, but it does what a Rambo movie should, and is light years better than the last two, IMO.
Movie Review: SURPRISINGLY ENGAGING Summary: 5 Stars
Count me among the non-believers who forever delayed seeing the botoxed muscle-bound Stallone when this fourth installment was released. Used to be the corner of his mouth that would exhibit an oddity all of its own, now it's his entire face. Thankfully, this crackerjack explosive thriller requires much of neither. It takes a clearcut plot but throws in some simmering action that is not only updated for the times (think Bourne Identity's Aikido-style stylization), it is also hardboiled enough to make the lily-livered cringe.
There's a healthy dose of intelligence in the manner in which our beloved moose blows up entire armies of people using chickenwire, a bow and arrows, and of course his bandanna. Plus, would you believe it, you might also feel an emotion or two because, you know, evil is repugnant and evil is precisely what many of the munchkins in a nondescript Asian island (okay, Burma) happen to be: fresh cardboard variety.
A very worthy rental if you know what to expect from a Rambo movie. You'll get it in spades. Literally.
Movie Review: The Best Rambo ever ! Summary: 5 Stars
No question about it, this is the best Rambo ever. The action is intense, the violence very graphic and almost unbearable at certain moments and the story is relevant. Sylvester Stallone has bravely tackled one of the pressing issues of the contemporary world and has made a brilliant action movie that is thought provoking and memorable.
The photography is excellent, the plotline believable and the acting overall is superb. The film ties up all the loose ends in the previous outings and ends in a very satisfying way. As one reviewer said, Rambo is no Private Ryan, but the film nevertheless makes a point. The Blu-Ray transfer as well as the Digital Copy transfer are both superb, though the latter had one or two very minor blemishes. The soundstage, even on the Digital Copy, is marvelous. This is a movie not only for Rambo/Stallone fans, but for all those who like action and even drama movies, for this is a moving story. Do yourself a favor, order this movie if you have not seen it so far.
