Movie Reviews of Rain Man (Special Edition)Movie Review: Ahead of its time. Summary: 5 Stars
With this special edition, I revisited the movie once again. One thing that stood out in my recent viewing is the incredibly sympathetic and accurate portrayal of autism. One needs to remember that it took until 1992 for the American Psychiatric Association to formally recognize and classify autism with a set of diagnostic criteria. This movie is dated 1988. Raymond's ticks, echolalia, and inability to cope with change are all spot on, if understandably diluted for mainstream consumption. More importantly, they form an integral part of the drama, pushing emotional buttons (Raymond: "C-H-A-R-L-I-E, my main man").
Movie Review: Rain Man.....the movie Summary: 5 Stars
One of my favorite movies.....Great performances by Dustin Hoffman, who plays Raymond,a servant with a gift for numbers, and his brother,Charlie,Tom Cruise.....Charlie finds out after 30 years that he has a special brother who is in a home caring for his special needs. He desides to "kidnap"Rayond to get to know him better. The movie shows the very special challenges this creates for Charlie, and the special bond that is created when Charlie finally finds what a very wonderful person Raymond is.Hollywood at it's best....Very unusual in light of some of their recent efforts....example(2012-the movie)UGH!!!!
Movie Review: Great Emotional Flick Summary: 5 Stars
Rain Man is a movie that appeals to the sense of emotion like no other movie I've seen in quite sometime. It is truely a masterpiece with performances of Hoffman & Cruise. I'm glad they finally releashed a special edition version on DVD, I have enjoyed watching it and the features which are a Deleted Scene, Behind-The-Scenes Docu, and Photo Gallerys. The film will always hold a special meaning inside of me between the bonding of brothers who couldn't be anymore different. I highly recommend picking up this new SE DVD of Rain Man, it's well worth your buck and than some.
Movie Review: Rain Man Summary: 5 Stars
Levinson's ingenious, slightly off-kilter road picture is also genuinely moving, offering a warm-hearted, humane look at disability. Though Cruise sometimes grates in an unsympathetic role, Hoffman's Raymond--a routine-oriented math genius with no coping or social skills--makes the movie. The actor is totally credible as an idiot savant with unexpected life lessons to impart to his younger brother, and this bravura performance earned Hoffman yet another Oscar, while the movie itself won for Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay.
Movie Review: Very Touching and Inspiring Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best dramas of all time. Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman act out the performances of their careers. Everything about the movie is funny, dramatic, and heartwarming. Dustin Hoffman is definately an awesome actor. He brings the authenticity of the disorder. Tom Cruise is the perfect person to play the annoyed brother because he can make the biggest jerk sympathetic. All in all this movie is great. I highly reccomend it.
