Movie Reviews of Raid on EntebbeMovie Review: The greatest anti-terrorist action of the 1970s! Summary: 5 Stars
The 1970s were a very dark time, in regard to the rise of terrorist acts committed by radical-leftist groups and their Islamic cohorts. This outstanding movie portrays a true event, in which Isreal's valorous military forces pulled off one of the greatest commando-raids in history! A passenger plane was hijacked by terrorists affiliated with the Red Army Faction and the Palestine Liberation Organization, a flight from Athens to Tel Aviv. The plane was diverted to the heart of Africa, into the very worst of destinations for that time: Idi Amin's Uganda. Amin, possibly the most mentally unbalanced, and bloodiest dictator ever seen in Africa, was a full collaborator with the PLO and RAF. Typical of such groups, the PLO and RAF threatened innocent civilians as a means of attempting to coerce Isreal into freeing some terrorists from Isreali prisons.
Isreal did not stand for this. They deployed several C-130 transport planes loaded with commandos and paratroops, in one of the most daring resue operations of its kind. We may never again see such a brash operation as this one! The rescue was a success! Sadly, there were some casualties amongst the civilian hostages and Isreali troops, but the number was thankfully small. Those who fell died bravely!
This movie should be more well-known than it currently is, especially in our time! Also, Charles Bronson (God rest his soul) is in this film!
Movie Review: Love For The Brave Summary: 5 Stars
This review is from the heart. Never have I been so glued to a story and it's outcome. The acting was very good, the slick and sickening leader of Entebbe was very well played, and the suspense was almost unbearable. I've been in love with Israel sense forever, I still am. We need more movies like this to change the minds of those so intolerant of a small people who live surrounded by deadly enimies, and are facing of people around the world who do not care. I'm made to understand anti-semetism is growing strong again! Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all the wonderful people of Israel, and those who live out of thier state. Please darlings go home before it is to late. I visited Israel in 1974, I have never felt so welcomed and safe. I must go back soon!
Buy "Raid on Entebbe" invite friends and relatives to watch it with you.(the discussions following will be very enlightning...especially from the young people, who just don't have a clue to what Israel has been through!
Movie Review: Great film! Summary: 5 Stars
"Raid on Entebbe" provides an excellent piece of entertainment about Israeli commandoes, who rescue hostages from the clutches of Arab and Ger-
man terrorists. One of the actors in the film, Horst Buchholz, just happens to be one of my favorite actors. He did a splendid job playing one
of the hijackers.
The film gives us a panoramic view of a number different locales and settings. Peter Finche and Charles Bronson do a maganificent job in re-
presenting the Israeli side of the issue.
In general, the film is both entertaining as well as a lesson in interational politics and conflict. Naturally, the film does run into the
problem of being biased towards one side of the issue, but it still does it job to keep us in suspense as to what will happen next.
All in all, do buy and watch this film. It is worth seeing over and over
again. I certainly never get tired of it.
Movie Review: True Rescue Raid Summary: 5 Stars
Raid on Entebbe
A rare, hard to find DVD, featuring the true story of Israel making a daring raid to in Africa on the Entebbe airport to get back Israael's captured passengers taken bo terrorists who transport them to Ida Imin
Exciting action and tension as the resuce plan is made and implemented.
Movie Review: Raid on Entebbe Summary: 4 Stars
The Raid On Entebbe is very well done. The tactical accounts of the raid are accurate and a bit of story added to make it TV enjoyable. Charles Bronson and Jack Warden lead an allstar cast. Its ending is powerful. I would rate it a PG-13.
Synopsis: Palestinians hijack an inbound flight to Israel and divert the flight to Entebbe, Uganda. The premise that it was too far for Israel to deal with. Idi Amin gets his 15 minutes of fame and puts Uganda on the world map. It is believed that Amin's support of the terrorist was to cover his own plans. The raid is planned but the setup and go aheads need to be done quietly. The raid goes off and see the movie to know the ending.
This DVD was not available for while after 2001 and I was real glad to find it. It has some politically sensitive lines removed by Jack Warden such as flying planes into buildings. But several DVD versions of movies have had their politically controversial items removed. One that comes to mind is "Born In East LA" with Jan Michael Vincent role almost removed completely.
