Movie Review: Rael Pilates System 27 - Excellent

I love pilates and have struggled to find a suitable DVD which I can use to exercise at home. This DVD is, without a doubt, the best pilates DVD available. Rael is an outstanding instructor and is very knowledgeable. It is well presented. The people on the DVD do the movements beautifully and set a great example. The exercises flow from one into the other. The session is well structured and not disjointed (like other DVDs). It is challenging and I always feel good after using this DVD. This is definitely a very challenging workout. If you're new to Pilates, you should probably try something shorter and less intense first. I love that Rael puts so much emphasis on breathing and proper form throughout this routine. Many other instructors leave this out, and without this, you don't get as deep of a workout.
I do wish there was a shorter version on the DVD. The full workout is about 45 minutes, but you can start at different points in the workout. Other than this, I wouldn't change a thing about it.

I just worked through this DVD for the first time and was very impressed. I've been doing Pilates for almost a year, first at a gym and then using various videos, and this workout was challenging but not agonizing; I felt great at the end. I liked Rael's focus on form and his encouragement (which wasn't over the top or annoying at all). He also has you do more repetitions of each exercise than most Pilates DVDs, and I liked that because it gave me more time to perfect my form.Movie Review: Wow! This is a must-have pilates workout.

If you are looking for the ultimate pilates workout, this is it. I own numerous pilates dvds and videos and this one is BY FAR the best one I've tried. The workout is challenging, well-paced, and the techniques are thoroughly explained. Rael's gentle voice and encouraging attitude combined with his obvious expertise only add to the overall quality of this dvd. Trust me, this is the one to buy. All others are a disappointment after trying the Rael method.

This dvd is not for beginners, but if you have a bit of skill you will truly enjoy it. The way the video is shot is wonderful and the tone of Raels voice is soothing, even though the workout is very challenging. At first I was not comfortable with a move called rolling like a ball and seal puppy, but now I look forward to them, they really strengthen your core. I feel energized after doing this work out.
