Movie Reviews of RV (Full Screen Edition)

Movie Review: What A Cute Movie!
Summary: 4 Stars

I gotta admit, as of late Robin Williams has been in quite the lull, as he's been churning out mediocrity for several years. I had never heard of RV--nor knew Williams starred in it--until I caught the movie on cable recently, and pulled up a chair. I found the movie funny (hysterically funny at times), entertaining, corny, and predictable--just the kind of light comedy to put a smile on your mug and forget the troubles of the day. Which is what an effective comedy does.

RV is, of course, the latest version of the "family vacation from hell" movie; Williams plays a father and husband who rents an RV (knowing next to nothing about them) to bond with his family--yet at the same time he must complete a presentation for his self-centered, greedy boss (Will Arnett is such a great comedic actor) for a pending merger. Murphy's Law promptly takes over, and chaos rules the day (I was rolling on the floor watching Williams trying to figure out how to drain the sewage tank), with Williams and family constantly being bailed out by a wily redneck family, led by Jeff Daniels and the diminutive Kristin Chenoweth. Naturally, Williams's character alienates his family, then wins them back as the film moves towards its daffy, predictable ending.

A very attractive Cheryl Hines plays the wife, and Williams makes RV one of his best films in recent years because he goes back to what he does best: physical shtick. Darn glad I came across this little gem surfing the remote. Thank you cable!

Movie Review: RV (Full Screen Edition)
Summary: 4 Stars

The executive Bob Munro is stressed, feeling threatened of losing his job and his lifestyle, since his abusive boss Todd Mallory hired the Stanford's geek Laird to work in their soda's company. Bob has promised his wife Jamie Munro, his teenage daughter Cassie Munro and his young son Carl Munro to spend vacations in Hawaii, but Todd demands him to prepare a presentation and attend a business meeting with the owners of a family company in a merging operation scheduled in the same period. Bob hides the truth to his family, rents a recreational vehicle and tries to convince his dysfunctional family that a road trip to the Colorado Rocky Mountains would be good to bring old values back to their family. After many incidents and while in the trailers parking area, the rookie Bob is helped by the bizarre but friendly Gornicke family. They escape from the Gornickes and initiate a journey of difficulties and leaning, retrieving their forgotten family bonds. "RV" is a movie where you should be able to have a few hard laughs and be able to smile the entire time.

Movie Review: As An RVer I'm A Little Biased
Summary: 4 Stars

I really thought this movie was hilarious.

The movie is about an executive that has to cancel his family vacation to Hawaii to make a sales presentation in Colorado. He gets the idea to make it into a road trip for the whole unwilling family... RV style. The mishaps and RV experiences are hilarious. Robins Williams was great (and I usually don't care for him much).

Its mostly about family bonding and its fun for the whole family but if you're an RVer or have even done some camping, you'll get an extra kick out of it.

Movie Review: Lighthearted, sitcom like...
Summary: 4 Stars

Surprisingly, I liked this movie. It keeps going at a good pace, and has a life lesson that does not become melancholy. Anything that Robin Williams usually touches to gold, but the supporting cast on this film all have bright futures. My favorite line is when the family is in the woods surrounded by bullies, and Robin Williams sees his son being bullied. He goes up to the bullies and says... "Yo, what's up mobile home boys...?" Classic Robin Williams sense of humor, an actor who has only gotten better since "Mork from Ork".

Movie Review: Fun show that is slow at times
Summary: 4 Stars

RV is one of those current slapstick forms of movie that is fun and makes one laugh. Robin Williams is a hit with his typical facial contortions and his ability to deliver a believable character. While the plot is the familiar dad-chooses-career-over-family genre, it is uniquely played out. The quirky Gornicke family helps the Munros (Robin Williams' family) learn about life and what really counts. I liked the movie.
