Movie Reviews of RV (Full Screen Edition)

Movie Review: A Funny Film That Had a Great Casting Director!
Summary: 5 Stars

"RV" is a success because everyone in this movie knows how to deliver a line, set the mood, and have fun while making a film.

Robin Williams (Bob Munro) is perfect as the Dad who needs to re-connect with his family. He is also convincing as the employee with a boss in need of a soul.

A movie like "RV" is so predictable that it takes a special comedic actor to pull it off. And I doubt many others could do it. Robin Williams is an extremely talented man, and he proves it in the way he approached and delivered the material offered him in this comedy.

Half the fun of watching this movie was seeing the cast pull off their predictable scenes without trepidation. I would have been wondering about the predictability aspect of the film, and therefore never have been able to concentrate on delivery and substance. The cast of this film looked beyond this obstacle and made "RV" a complete success - a real joy to watch.

Cheryl Hines (Jamie Munro) plays Bob's wife, a woman trying to make the best of a vacation gone horribly wrong. She works well on screen with Williams. She didn't overact her part, nor did she try and slip into the background and let Williams just control the movie.

Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque (Cassie Munro) is a darling on the screen. This young lady is destined for elite stardom. She had some of the funniest lines in the movie, and having two teenage daughters of my own, I can attest to the fact that she nailed this role perfectly! I know attitude and sarcasm and attitude when I see it.

Josh Hutcherson (Carl Munro) is hilarious as the young and undersized-but-lifting-weights-like-a-fanatic son who delivers facial expressions (or doesn't) at just the right time and place to make the audience laugh without a word being spoken; another great credit to the casting director for adding this young man to the project.

And finally, while Jeff Daniels (Travis Gornicke) performs well as the RV-living wild man, Kristin Chenoweth (Mary Jo Gornicke) steals every scene from the veteran Daniels. Her bubbling spirit and gorgeous demeanor are truly addictive throughout the second half of the movie.

"RV" is an excellent comedy on all levels. I highly recommend this DVD. And that means that all readers of this review need to purchase it. Got that?

Movie Review: Delightful, well-crafted
Summary: 5 Stars

Few things are as disappointing as settling in for a night of comedy only to be let down with weak punchlines and restless activity substituted for meaningful plot development; plot development that lays the foundation for good comedy. This film does not disappoint. The storyline is good in conception and execution, and the script keeps us laughing with funny lines and humorous incidents in regular doses. Perhaps the number of reviews that rate this production as sub-standard or mediocre reflect an ambivalence toward RV'ing in general? My response to that would be, Then why watch the movie?

If you're the kind of person who likes to vacation away from home and struggles to make the journey as enjoyable as the destination, then you know the frustrations encountered in accomplishing that goal, and will appreciate this movie. If your the kind of person who speeds recklessly along the highway in your vehicle, indifferent to enjoying the ride and the hazard you represent to other people trying to get to the same destination, then you won't relate to this movie.

Movie Review: Funny Crap...Literally!
Summary: 5 Stars

I went to see this movie thinking it would be the worst film in the world. I didn't think that Jojo could act, but hey i found out that i was wrong, this is one of my favorite Robin William's movies ever! This movie was great and i would recommend it to anyone. I liked it so much that i went to the theatre and watched it twice! The movie is about Robin Williams taking on a project which will overthrow his plans for his families vacation to Hawaii. So instead he takes his family on an RV trip so that he can continue his job and make it to a meeting for his company. On their adventure they encounter a lot of laughs, a ton of waste, and even a weird but cool family that happens to have Jeff Daniels as the father! Overall I gave this movie five stars and it deserves every one of them! Watch this movie and you'll laugh your butt off!

Movie Review: Good surprise
Summary: 5 Stars

I was actually surprised but I really liked this movie. Unlike most people, I am not a Robin Williams fan. I usually avoid any movie with which he is involved. My husband does like Robin Williams and this movie just happened to be in the cabin we were staying in on vacation. I watched the movie with my husband and was very pleasantly surprised. I really did like the movie! It's cheesy, funny, and just a nice way to stop thinking and turn our minds off the troubles of this world. I could have done without the sewer scene but this is a very funny movie that anyone can just relax and veg out for a good time.

Movie Review: RV rules the roads!
Summary: 5 Stars

Bob Munro(Robin Williams) takes his family cross-country in a rented RV. The kids are somewhat enjoying themselves. But Bob must arrive back to work to give a lecture to a group of people at his company. He is terminated by his inept superiors but re-instated after the superiors are "knocked out". This is another one of Williams' "clean shaven" comedies. If you saw this film and loved it,you'll also love more of Williams' comedies like GOOD MORNING VIETNAM*,CADILLAC MAN,POPEYE,THE BEST OF TIMES,CLUB PARADISE,TOYS and THE BIRDCAGE. *oscar winner
