Movie Reviews of RUSH: Snakes & Arrows LiveMovie Review: Rush at it's best Summary: 5 Stars
If you are a long time Rush fan, or just getting to know the band right now, and you can afford only one concert DVD, this is the one I would recomend. This is by far the best sound and image quality in any Rush concert (and the other ones are not really too bad).
The song set list is really interesting, including a good portion of new songs from their latest studio album, Snakes and Arrows, the classic hits like Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio, 2112 and Limelight, and the long lost gems like Circumstances, A Passage to Bangkok, and Ghost of a Chance. The performance is unbelieveably solid, and it's full of the well-known Rush humor. Do not miss this one.
Movie Review: Rush,,straight up.... Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best concert dvd's I've seen, and certainly the best of Rush's releases. It's about Rush and their performance. It is not about how 'creative' some idiot producer thinks he is when he cuts from one camera to another every second as some I've seen. It shows you camera angles from all over, upclose, and one on the Atlanta disk I 'm watching now that seems to be from the back row of the amphitheatre. If you want to know what it's like to see Rush, buy a ticket next time. For a most reasonable facsimile thereof, buy this DVD. If you're like me and you just love these guys and can't wait till next time, BUY THIS DVD.
THANK YOU ALEX NEIL AND GEDDY.
Movie Review: You know it's good when..... Summary: 5 Stars
...it's Rush!
Yes, hundreds of thousands of fans turned out for both legs of the Snakes and Arrows tour and what a tour it was! True musicianship! Three true professionals doing what they love at their best - playing their music for their fans as only Rush can! I am so stoked and so excited! 221 minutes of one of the greatest rock bands of all time!
So, to the naysayers, before you even begin... Yes, us Rush fans can grade this as a 5-star product before it is released because we know it is. Many of us experienced it in 2007 and 2008.
Thank you Rush, for over 35 years of quality music and incredible shows!
Movie Review: They just keep getting better and better Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best Rush DVDs to date. The beginning of it was hilarious--it's nice to see a funny side. THe clarity of the picture and the mix are dead nuts on--I wish I had the Blu Ray version of this because even through my PS2 the picture is crystal clear. These guys pulled out some great hits from Permanent Waves, Signals, and Hemispheres that I have never heard live and it was great hearing and seeing it since I had to miss their trip through Phoenix. Neil Peart, as always, gives the audience his signature drum solo that no one else can hold a candle to. Can't wait to see what these guys pull out of their magical hat next.
Movie Review: What a live DVD should be like.... Summary: 5 Stars
Obviously, I haven't seen this DVD yet, but I was there for the Buffalo, NY show on the Snakes & Arrows tour. I must say, it was the best of the four Rush concerts I've attended! Even before the concert was over, I was hoping that they would release a DVD from that tour, and they are! The track listing indicates that, as with the "Rush in Rio" DVD, they have included the ENTIRE set. Why more bands don't do this on their DVDs, I'll never know. Rush seems to be one of the few rock bands out there that really knows how to please fans with a DVD. And, I agree with other reviewers...you can NEVER have too many Rush DVDs!!
