Movie Review: Movin' Them Pictures
Summary: 5 Stars

Standing alone, this DVD is excellent. My own personal opinion is that I enjoyed previous releases better for the extra contents. I prefer "making of" shorts and documentaries in place of skits, sketches, and SNL performances. I'm sure they are more fun to create though. On a positive note, we know much more about them as individuals in the last 10 years because the performances are less canned. The concert footage has come a long way from the Rio performance that was thrown together after a rain storm. Still, I'm not sure I'd continue in the direction of comedy. The 20 years of serious music covered up a spontaneous sense of humor only sometimes seen live. Name a "video" on Chronicles that is not dated. In retrospect, I'll bet half of the RUSH videos (especially the obscure ones NOT on Chronicles) weren't lucrative financially for the trio. An online extra from the Colbert Report showed them failing to successfully play Tom Sawyer on the Rockstar game. THAT was classically funny. Appearances from Jerry Stiller, South Park, Bob and Doug etc. make the band to appear to be more mainstream. Dedicated Rush fans want them to remain our little secret. We'd also like them to get their due too. Like from the RNR Hall of Fame... AHEM!

Movie Review: Great DVD production - and I went to that concert!
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree with those reviews that focus on the production quality of this DVD set. Yes, it is better than R30 or Rio. This DVD holds a great significance since I went to see them in the Ahoy in Rotterdam the first of the 2 nights that they were here. To the surprise of everyone that came to those concerts there were a couple of A4s posted on doors saying that the concert was going to be filmed! That in itself added more to the great atmosphere that was already building inside.... Having this DVD just reminds me of the details you tend to forget after a while! The sound, the temperature, the atmosphere, the joy...

Now, when you watch the concert and the camera pans across the audience, you'll see every now and then a pole/stick with a red light on top making its way around the crowd. That's someone who is selling a very well known brand of beer! |(There are a number of them walking around throughout the duration of the concert).

As it is said in Dutch: "het was een unique ervaring - geweldig" (it was a unique experience - terrific).

P.S. - Enjoyed the extras very much. They were an integral part of the concert those nights.

Movie Review: Fantastic Presentation of an Excellent Show
Summary: 5 Stars

Experiencing Rush in concert is something that everyone should strive to attain. Especially for those who truly appreciate a "complete" show. Their balance of musicianship, sound quality, lighting, video, pyrotechnics, etc. is masterful. The video interaction is well timed and not overdone. The lighting design is rich and intriguing and the looks are different for each song. The sound quality is the best for any live shows I have attended. Pyrotechnics and lasers have just the right impact. I was fortunate enough to attend both the 2007 and 2008 legs of the Snakes and Arrows Tour. This 3-Disc DVD collection is an excellent representation of the performance. The quality of the picture is superior. The sound pulls you into the performance. The addition of the concert video footage is fun, from Southpark and the McKenzie Brothers to acting projects from the band. The song selections give you all of the songs from both legs of the tour across the 3 discs. The pricing for this collection is an added bonus! For Rush fans, this collecion is a must! For everyone else, it is a great concert DVD that may just convert you into a Rush fan!!

Movie Review: Rush out and get this One!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Yes, all Rock fans should have this one in their collection. Rush and all that were are part of making this DVD completely got it 100% perfect on this one. This is how a Rock DVD should be. They missed the mark in their last 2 DVD's with poor sound on the RIO DVD and then R30 didn't include the complete concert material; however on this Snakes & Arrows DVD you get a full complete concert and then extras with the Atlanta show completing the added songs for the 2nd leg of the tour. I was able to go to 4 shows in all on this tour and was excited to see that this DVD brought back some great memories of the shows I attended. The picture quality is perfect, the filming of the shows has a feel like you are actually there at the show and the sound quality is by far one of the best concert DVD's I have in my large collection. I listened to it in 5.1 and also Stereo and I actually found the Stereo sound to be much more fuller and a much more real sound. Try them both as they are both exceptional. This is a must for all Rush fans as I know we Rush fans already have this and a great start for many new fans as well as all Rock fans. Enjoy!!
