Movie Review: Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris "Real Live Roadrunning"
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great collabration concert that Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris has created. Both are very talented musicians, and collectively they are even better. The entire concert is outstanding.
Musicians include: Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris on guitars and vocals (Mark plays electric guitar, EmmyLou plays acoustic); Guy Fletcher on keyboards; Richard Bennett on guitar; Danny Cummings on drums; Stuart Duncan on fiddle and mandolin; Matt Rollings on keyboards; and Glen Work on bass. In the concert Mark introduces the band members and refers to them as "world class" musicians. I agree with that assessment.
The dvd begins with EmmyLou discussing what brought the two musicians together. Then you get Mark Knopfler's band rehearing.
The entire concert is outstanding but some highlights include: "Red Staggerwing" ; "Red Dirt Girl"; "Done with Bonaparte"; "Song for Sonny Listen"; "Belle Star" "All the Roardrunning"; "Boulder to Birmingham" (this is an EmmyLou classic that is a tribute to the late Gram Parsons, whom she used to perform and record with); "Speedway to Nazareth"; "So far Away" ; and "Our Shangri-La"
This is a 5 star concert dvd, that is destined to become a classic. I highly recommend it.
Movie Review: I was there...
Summary: 5 Stars
I was at the Gibson Ampitheater when this concert was filmed. It was, without a doubt, one of the best concerts I have ever been to, second only to Led Zepplin at the LA Forum in 1976. Knopfler played wonderfully, and his interplay with Harris was superb. Their voices combined surpisingly well, and the instrumental work was top notch. I hope the DVD will capture the energy in the crowd - people were usually on their feet and dancing with total strangers. Each song from the "Roadrunning" album was played, but the outstanding cuts will be Emmylou's "Red Dirt Girl", and Mark's "Song for Sonny Liston". My favorite, though, was the slow buldup to a crashing version of Knopfler's "Speedway to Nazareth", one of my favorite rock songs of all times. I have heard Mark play this live before, as well as a few reorded versions, and this was penultimate. I read on Knopfler's UK website that Warner Brothers will be releasing this November 14th, but it can't be too soon for me!Movie Review: All the Road Running Knoffler/Emmy Lou

So good; I gave the first one away to my Bro in law.
After having played the cd numerous times, I miss the live
performance and am ordering second DVD. People must be noticing.
The price has gone up by at least $ 5.00 even on "used" editions.
Knoffler has a unique guitar sound. When he starts on "Right Now"
it is fast and furious. Then Emmy Lou comes in from off stage.
It don't get no better. Sorry Ma but proper English don't fit!
The back-up band, including the drummer from Dire Straits
is magnificent. Country and rock never had it so good!!!
Movie Review: Unlikely Pair

These two artists are great on their own. When you put these together, what you get is pure bliss. Emmylou is so classy and Mark is there with his awesome guitar playing. You gotta hear and see this! "This is Us" stands alone without even watching the rest of the DVD. But don't make that mistake!!!!!!Movie Review: Great audio and video - nice if you like country music

The DVD is great quality.
Unfortunately I was sent region #2 so it did not play on my DVD players.
the case said region 2-6 but the Amazon product details did not identify any region limitations.
I had to enter a special code to get region free operation to work on one DVD player and then I could view the DVD.
Before I found this work around to fix the issue, I sent the seller an e-mail identifying the problem and never got a reponse.
I submitted feedback and still got no response from the seller although I noticed a response is posted - they just never bothered to send me a copy.
So apparently not only do you have to be careful about region code when making a purchase, you have to check the box for region code BEFORE opening the package! Once you open the DVD - it's all yours...
