Movie Reviews of Quigley Down Under

Movie Review: Quigley is our man!
Summary: 5 Stars

He was great in this (Tom Sellick). I really truly enjoyed it and you will too" The girl in here her name is Laura San Giacomo she's in that show called Just Shout Me .Anyway this was her big break I think. Simply outstanding. And you know what? This movie doesn't have natsy language and viloence so your grandkids can watch it with you too.

Sellick is great - that nitwit Rosie ODonnell needs to have her head examined for giving him a hard time. Maybe when she gets liposuction the cow.

WARNING: Make sure you have the right DVD code - they are different from counbtry to country and I have a few (3) that don't work whatsoever. I am Harold McInnes.

Movie Review: So Good Even My Aussie Friend Liked It!
Summary: 5 Stars

My friend in Australia and I occasionally exchange movies. She is a hard one to find something to her taste and is very picky, but she did enjoy this movie. Granted she did find fault, heh heh -- like when he is dragged behind a horse she said he would have been shredded, and the aboriginal turnout at the end would have taken the entire indiginous population of Australia together at once! (Me? I found that part touching!) Other than that though, she found it entertaining, so that must mean she thought the story did no damage to either country's image.

Now if I can just teach her to suspend disbelief and enjoy the story... LOL

Movie Review: a Top 10 movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of those films which I can watch again and again. It is a straight foreward tale of adventure, with few twists and turns, but with interesting characters, a great rifle, a sense of morality thrown in, and a whole lot of fun. Tom Selleck was born to play Quigley, and should immediately film a sequel. I bet they will be surprised how well this DVD sells. The best recommendation I can give is this: It is one of those 10 films which I would take to the proverbial desert Island. If you liked The Postman,(yes, THAT Postman), Citizen Kane, The Graduate, Contact, Toy Story, U-571, Casablanca, Jaws, you will probably like this one.

Movie Review: Quigley rules, mate!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a thoroughly enjoyable western, albeit one set in Australia. It doesn't matter. Alan Rickman is excellent as the evil rancher, Laura San Giacomo is cool as the crazy woman, and the whole story moves along at a nice pace. While there is some violence, it is not gratuitous and makes sense within the story. It is a western, after all. The ending is satisfying and upbeat. I've seen the movie maybe 6 times, and the DVD version is the best, with all the cut bits put back in and widescreen to boot. It may not be highbrow cinema, but it's a good movie.

Movie Review: Great Western
Summary: 5 Stars

We have watched this movie so many times. We are on our 2nd VHS tape and I am buying the DVD to give to my son so his family can enjoy it.

I have always been a Tom Selleck fan but his best movies are the westerns. His Sackett movies with Sam Elliott make you believe that he really was a cow boy in the old west.

All I can say is that I wish we had more of these kinds of movies instead of some of the wierd junk that is out today.

If you love westerns then you will love this movie.
