Movie Review: zsa zsa, you were so bad, you were good!
Summary: 3 Stars
i saw this movie when i was a teen-ager. this movie started popping up on television in the nineties. what it is basically about is a group of women who gets tired of the queen's crulty and decides to rebel.
then on the other side of the universe, a group of men, headed up by eric fleming's character, is assigned an unwelcome duty that they feel are best suited for "space jockeys" even though they get to take the trip with a renown scientist.
this movie is so bad, it is good. the first thing that is readily noticed are the sets. can we say "forbidden planet?" even the costumes were from "forbidden planet." okay! first, the dialogue is terrible: "why don't you girls knock off all of this gestopo stuff and try to be alittle friendlier." and what is up with this word: "beautiflier." this is not a word.
and according to zsa zsa, in her biography, all of the females in the movie were all miss america beauty queens. i don't doubt it. but that shouldn't have equated to silly nonsensical dialogue like: "ha deed." and did anyone miss a beat when zsa zsa's scarf was "magically fixed" in the scene when she goes to visit the "prisoners?" her scarf is coming undraped. then they cut to the captain {played by eric fleming} then back to zsa zsa, standing there posing in a very beautiful red, cut very high on one thigh, dress. and bingo, that scarf is all straightened out.
and did anyone notice how the spaceship leaving earth was different from the one which landed on venus? even i had to laugh about that.
and there was other atrocious stuff too, like, larry wrestling with a very unrealistic looking plastic spider, the girlfriend whom he was kissing was to near where the spaceship was, which blew dust and dirt all over her when it took off. if she had of actually been standing that close to a launching pad, she would have been disintegrated. this movie was to short and it had to many holes in the story.
i did like the costume that was worn by anne francis on zsa zsa's character's friend better. zsa zsa did wear some very beautiful, classy clothing. the queen wore very beautiful clothing too. but all in all this is one of the best/worse B flicks i have ever seen. and oh yes. i would definitely buy this one so i can laugh my behind off at all of the goofies this movie has to offer.
