Movie Reviews of Queen BeeMovie Review: Unintentional Laughs, but all old movies have that Summary: 5 Stars
I had to watch this film after reading Christina Crawford's "Mommie Dearest". Christina wrote "I went to see my mom in 'Queen Bee' and I hated it. She wasn't acting, she was being her true self in that movie, that's exactly how she was at home when she was drinking and at her very worst." Well, yes, Joan's character was pretty insane in the movie, but she wasn't into physical abuse, she was mostly into psychological abuse. I enjoyed it. Sometimes it is good to watch a silly old film.
Movie Review: Stings so good! Summary: 5 Stars
Joan's performance is flawless. When Betsy Palmer and Joan are on the screen together, you've got heaven. This film is well written and acted. It is also directed without missing a beat. The scenery is impeccable. This film is what film making is about. So many speak of "Citizen Kane" as the do-all film, IMO, "Queen Bee" is the template. This film is viewable at least twice a week. Study this film. You'll study, you'll learn and you'll have a hell of a time doing it.
Movie Review: Grade A Crawford Summary: 5 Stars
In one of her best and boldest. This film is really too amazing to explain. You will awe as Crawford smashes the living room with a riding crop. You will marvel when she slaps the young ecstatic girl across the face. You will be amazed as she easily steps into a bath that has to be at least 200 degrees! You will applaud as she seduces another man while her children lay in bed with the covers over their heads shaking in fear! Beauty bagged himself a real wild one here!

Movie Review: Really, really good Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is a ridiculous mix of melodrama, southern gothic and film noir that works better than I would have ever imagined. Joan is great of course, just check out that riding crop! Anyone who likes Crawford will love this. This movie is so much fun. The DVD transfer is wonderful, as are all of the Columbia Classics that I've seen. There are no extras on the DVD, but then again, it's the film that counts.
