Movie Reviews of Quantum of Solace

Movie Review: Ian Flemming's Bond - some of us "Get It..."
Summary: 5 Stars

Tough and gritty, living every day as if it was his last - this was James Bond as penned by Ian Flemming. Smoking the strongest cigarettes available, drinking the best, enjoying the finest life has to offer, as his profession may easily bring about his death tomorrow. Totally loyal to the crown, ruthless in the execution of his duties. This IS James Bond as he was meant to be presented to the world, not as a wise-cracking, womanizing "cartoon" character.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace finally get it right after almost 50 years. A Bond who has to put his personal feelings aside, one who is truly injured when a woman he has been intimate with is killed as a result of their relationship.

No mechanical alligators, pirahana-filled ponds, or Jaws. Just some exciting, hard edged film making, featuring a talented lead (Daniel Craig) who can also show a human side while plowing through the plot like a one-man army.

If you want entertainment in the vein of 24 or the Die Hard series, here's what you've been looking for. If you want soft-porn cartoons, search for a Ralph Bakshi flick...

Movie Review: Story-line ACCURATE and IMMACULATE !!! Well done !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Congratulations on the Story-line [screenplay] ACCURACY and well done !!!

1- I THOROUGHLY enjoyed Daniel Craig's acting ,,, he is a VERY GOOD actor.
2- I was IMPRESSED with the story-line ,,, and its ACCURACY !!!
3- The MINIMAL CGI, blue-screen, "cartoons" was top-shelf !!!
4- The lack of ear-splitting explosions was healthful and mature.
5- The lack of the ubiquitous exposed cow-teat was appreciated [exposed to sexually arouse and harass children, adolescents and immature adults].

But ,,, for my taste ,,, there were way too many unnecessary cows, clogging up the screen !!! Undoubtedly they were in the movie to appease the cow audience ,,, and possibly children, adolescents and the immature. -- Good thing MOST of the cows were killed off and WERE NOT "skinny" Ninja Turtles ,,, BOGUS cow-dung !!! Who believes those bony cows thrashing grown men ???

OVERALL a well made film ,,, BUT ,,, if it were not for Daniel Craig ,,, it would be at best a "B" movie !!!

Sincerely,
Matthew

Movie Review: More of an Action Film Than a James Bond Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I have always liked Bond movies and have felt that they offered more than your typical action film.
I look forward to the new gadgets, cars and the Bond girls. This movie to me seemed to be missing the
Bond elements, but was still very enjoyable. I rated the movie 5 stars because even as an action film the movie was very enjoyable. Personally I would have enjoyed more gadgets and more of a traditional Bond role. Daniel Craig is by far the most rough around the edges Bond in the franchise history.

It also was a bit of a continuation from Casino Royale. Seeing Casino Royale is not mandatory but it does make Quantum Solace more enjoyable. I would recommend for maximum pleasure to watch both back to back. With that being said the movie is easy to follow, very exciting and most important it is an entertaining movie. This may not be the best Bond movie but it was one of the best movies of last year. If you like action films you will not be disappointed, but if you are only watching the movie because it is a Bond movie you may be slightly disappointed.

Movie Review: Awesome action movie
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie's got it all, don't listen to the haters, nay-sayers, and squirreley whiners; if you like manly action movies than you will like Quantum of Solace. It's got everything, a manly British protagonist, an pencil-necked effeminate French villain, a fine Russian lady (playing a hispanic lady) and a fight scene just about every ten to fifteen minutes. The portrayal of the Americans is mildly unflattering but coming from the Brits I think it's excusable, besides, it's not like we're not the ones making the movie anyway, and one of the Americans is a good guy anyway. The effete delicate Frenchman (Dominic Greene) has convinced the world that he's a sensitive environmentalist but naturally he's really a rotten little crook whose trying to exploit the people of Bolivia. And the sexy lady of the film has a score to settle with the fat, smelly-looking Bolivian dictator, who gets his own just-come-uppins near the end of the film as well. All in all, awesome all-American(en route via Britain) action movie.

Movie Review: Best Bond Flick since Connery!
Summary: 5 Stars

I know that arguing Bond flicks can often be like debating Red Sox vs. Yankees so I will toss down the gauntlet and say Quantum of Solace is one of the top non-Connery films. Daniel Craig is excellent as Bond and he does it in such a fashion as to appear that, much like Connery, being a spy can get in the way of his excellent taste and social life.

That being said, Craig does an excellent job in smoldering from his previous mission and this film has a plot which may not be believable but then again, it maybe in the near future. Let's be honest, no one watches Bond films to learn about the world. Once again the stunts are amazing and incredible. There are elements, like in every Bond film, which are laughably bad but the emphasis is on laughable.

I haven't seen every Bond film but I can say with certainty that this one beats all of the Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton films put together. I only wish they would bring back John Cleese! :)
