Movie Review: more than a western

purgatory is somewhat of a surprise. i am a fan of westerns, but you don't have to like cowboy pictures to appreciate this excellent made for t.v. movie. like most good westerns, purgatory is about far more than gun fights in the wild west. it is a love story, a tale of good vs evil, and a lesson on the thin line that often separates right from wrong. all of the actors give first rate performances that go above and beyond what is usually seen in movies that are produced for television. if you are looking for something original that the whole family can enjoy purgatory is a wonderful choice.Movie Review: A Great Movie

If Rod Serling had written a Western, he might have come up with Purgatory. I won't describe the plot, which previous reviewers have already done, but let me say that I always feel my spirit soar at the end of this movie. It also has one of the most beautifully choreographed gunfights you'll ever see, and one of the most memorable lines: 'The Almighty may be strict, but He ain't blind.'
This movie is a keeper. I already had it in VHS format, but bought the DVD to have it in a more permanent media.

I bought this movie on the recomendation of a friend.
And Boy I wasn't disapointed.
Now I'm now into Westerns but the supernatural twist made this movie awesome!
If your into moves that fall into more than one catagory. like Western/fantasy etc.
I really like the way all the old Gunslingers interact with each other.
It's sorta like what if...Billy the Kid, Jesse James, Wild Bill, and Doc Holiday were all in the afterlife together.

To bad these kinds of movies are not made anymore. Every actor in this played a great part. Especially liked the action and the fact the bad guy does really get it in the end. Eric Roberts and Sam Shepard must have had a blast making this movie. If you like westerns, this has a real twist to it. I would recommend this to anyone, and any age, the use of sex and slurs are not present in this. I rate this AAAAA+++++Movie Review: In order to truly enjoy this movie, don't read the plot. Just get your popcorn.

If while going through this adventure called life, you've asked yourself once or twice, "Just what the heck is going on here?" this movie is for you. There aren't many slow spots; the story moves right along. It's an absolute mandate that you hang in there and make it to the end. Well acted, it leaves you with an upbeat feeling.
