Movie Review: Anne Heche + Gus Van Sant = Perfection.
Summary: 5 Stars
Although I loved Hitchcock's film, this film has a much for sympathetic Ms. Crane. Heche's wonderful and endearing performance far outshadows Janet Leigh. Watch this film for the script, direction and Ms. Heche. Do not watch this film to compare it to it's earlier Hitchcockian version. This film is an entity in and of itself.
My only addition would be to REMOVE "Norman's Masturbation" scene. This was not warranted. I don't know what Van Sant was thinking. The appearance of copious amounts of blood in the "Shower Scene" is not necessary either.
Movie Review: A worthy Remake

I think its a worthy remake. There are 2 ways to make a remake as i see it. Either u present it in a new mood with new bright effects and up to date presentation OR u stick to the masterpeice's original idea changing just some minor details. Psycho by van gus sant does the same by Not fixing which is not broken. If u prefer the original psycho black and white with Mono sound then u can see that But for those who want a digital 5.1 psycho in color then this is your ONLY choice. I enjoyed it. I saw the orginial Psycho and I believe that this one is good, too.Vince Vaugh is great as Norman almost as good as Anthony Perkins. Anne Heche is also very good she adds her talents and makes the movie. If you have seen the orginial you should really see this one. The upgrade to the 1990's is also very good. I wish I could trade my car and only add $700 as the orginial Marion did. This movie can stand on it's own, you cannot compare the two and be satisified. YES, there is one person in the world that likes this...,me, many will not understand why? But i do. This is a faithfull remake(of course, not as good as the original) of PSYCHO, i consider this was made in honor of Hitchkock.It was made shot by shot like the original.The shower scene is still terrifiying, i love this remake.Gus Vant Sant did a great job, he was brave to actually make a remake.The only bad thing about this its he didnt add anything new,not so good.Movie Review: Excellent and superior to the original.

Everything about this version of the film works perfectly including the acting, the direction, the exquisite variation of color. Unique hues not only succeed in adding atmosphere and tone, but also clue the viewer in on unique aspects of each character and setting in the drama. Watching this version gives one the feeling of entering a dream world. Everything is strange and wild. I personally find the original unwatchable but this 1998 reimaging nails it.
