Movie Review: An Awesome Remake to a Classic Slasher!!!
Summary: 5 Stars
I thought that this was a really good remake! Although the story is very different to the original, to me, it's still a remake. In the original, the killer was masked and you don't find out until the end, but this time, you know exactly who the killer is. In the original, the prom is at Hamilton High School, in this one, it's at a Grand Hotel. The prom was gangsta'! (Since I graduated this year, I can kind of relate to some of the things they were talking about during their prom.) In the original, a little girl died six years before the prom, and the kids responsible swear not to tell no one, and the killer comes to the prom to kill them, in the remake, a teacher named Richard Fenton becomes obsessed with a student named Donna, and he breaks out of prison 3 years later to see her again and will kill anyone who gets in his way. I also like how it was more police-oriented and showed them searching the rooms of the hotel. Detective Winn is cool. He reminds me of Dr. Loomis in Halloween. Also, Donna is very sexy. If you want to see the movie for a straight remake of the original, you'll be highly disappointed, but if you stay open-minded and enjoy the movie for what it is, hopefully you'll love it! I highly recommend PROM NIGHT!!!
p.s. I saw this movie a 2nd time the night before my actual Prom! I was a Prom King nominee, but I lost! (Good times!)
