Movie Reviews of PriestMovie Review: Incredible.... Summary: 5 Stars
I have just watched "Priest".... I cried for 10 minutes... A movie has never made me cry... Im a gay teenager... Im an atheist too.... This movie crosses all boundaries I can imagine... The raw emotion coming from every side blows my mind... The ending is so powerful I cant even start to think about it without my eyes tearing up.... You must see it, gay or straight, atheist or christian or catholic... I dont want to get into specifics but this movie is probably the best (or atleast the most important) movie I will ever see in my life. Please see it...
Movie Review: Loved it! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite films. Linus Roache and Tom Wilkinson both turn in brilliant performances. The scene where Father Greg breaks down and has it out with God is wonderful. Many people today can't seem to give themselves permission to be mad at God. His frankness in sharing his gut feelings with God is quite refreshing. However, in fairness to more conservative religious folks, I think there should be some mention of his homosexual struggle on the cover of the film. For an unsuspecting viewer, this could be quite disturbing.
Movie Review: To the gay teenager Summary: 5 Stars
This is a powerful film, I was 21 when this film was made and I too cried when I saw it. Unfortunately I didnt feel positive after seeing the film and decided to stay in the closet. That wasnt a fault of the film, probably just my insecuraties. I then saw another film that made me cry called 'Beautiful Thing' and that marked an important change in my life. If you havnt seen it, check out 'beautiful thing' either here or on amazon.co.uk. Take care.
Movie Review: great film, deeply moving Summary: 5 Stars
forget what the Catholic church tells you about this film. the priests in the film want to stay with the Church in spite of bad eggs which abound in their surroundings as with any bureaucracy. this is a great film about the possibilities of human understanding and trueness to the deeper values that Jesus taught. i have a feeling Jesus would haved loved the two priest leads in this film more than he would the priests who condemned it.
Movie Review: You will be moved (possibly in spite of yourself) Summary: 5 Stars
You will be hard-pressed to find a more deeply moving ending, regardless of your political/religious views. For me, the film is not so much a commentary on specific sin than one on how knowledge/exposure to another's sin is corrosive to the will power of those around him, the truth about the brokeness of all humanity, and the healing power of unconditional love. It seeks to stir questions and thought rather than sermonize and succeeds.
