Movie Reviews of Priceless [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: Great date movie!
Summary: 4 Stars

Adult without ever getting purient, both hard hearted and romantic, I found "Priceless" to be great fun all around: Tatou is stunning playing a role that might have gone to Audrey Hepburn had she been better known as a dramatic actress (as seen in "The Childrens' Hour") than as a beautiful gamine (or if say, the film version of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" been more upfront about Holly GoLightly's working life.... but the real star of the show is Gad Elehrah, the waiter who stumbles into a new life as a gigilo, paradoxically in the name of love. His Chaplin-esque gestures and facial expressions speak volumes. And yet, for all this, the movie's plot is silly. gorgeously fun. A great date movie.

Movie Review: Money isn't the answer.
Summary: 4 Stars

It was a nice little movie, but it was in French. It would of been a lot better if
it was in English.

Movie Review: Priceless
Summary: 4 Stars

Very funny and very visual acting makes this movie such fun to watch. Both lead actors do a wonderful job.

Movie Review: Humdrum formula
Summary: 3 Stars

Yes, we all know Audrey Tautou is beautiful and can act and Gad Elmaleh has style but formula is formula. I admit that we like to see the same formulas over repeatedly; some movies are just fun to watch even when we know the general just of the story and the outcome. However, there comes a time when trying to remake a classic can get boring. This is one of those times. Perhaps it is just because we're spending more time watching subtitles. Then again, I have the feeling that everybody is just going through motions.

The general story is of course a gold digger who mistakes somebody for being rich. This film expands on this mistaken identity and allows the tables to be turned with a few standard twists. I suggest that if you like this type of film that you really should watch "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (1998) as it has the same feel but more depth.
