Movie Review: Sloppy Writing

This whole concept of the suspension of disbelief seems to be lost in the production of this film. Basically, it is a standard story told out of sequence - normally a plot device that I enjoy - except that here, there are too many inconsistencies. Its like the adaptation didn't quite work and rather than try to do the diligence to make it work, they got lazy and just threw the thing together and pushed it out to the box office. The soundtrack is another disappointment: the music swelling up and getting suspenseful over the discovery of a dead bird in the yard, for example. I just didn't get the emotional response out of the discovery of a dead animal that was suggested by the score. Finally the scene with the priest who just happens to have the text on all the other women who've suffered from the Cassandra syndrome on his shelf was empty and useless to the plot.
