Movie Reviews of Predator [Blu-ray]Movie Review: A great Schwarzenegger Flick!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Firstly, the film is one of me favourites! Anytime, I get the chance to see it, I make the time for it!
I own the Region 2 Two Disc 2001 Special Edition DVD , which I dubbed the 15th Anniversary Edition, this Blu-ray version & the Ultimate Hunter Version. Now down to the long & short of the matter.
In my opinion I prefer the first two media offerings, the dvd was chock full of extras & a DTS track, the first Blu-ray only offered an HD trailer, or so they claimed, & a DTS HD MA track, very loud for my needs! The most recent blu-ray offering, despite the fact that it has all the extras from the 2001 disc & a couple new ones to promote "Predators", is in my opinion, ghastly & attrocious & makes me wonder what the hell Fox was thinking. Of course, there are people who will say they love it the way it is & the rest of us will prefer the earlier blu-ray version. The point is that prior to HD, all films were shot the way they were & should be preserved as such! To arbitarily scrub the hell out of a film to please one side of the group will have consequences & dissention! I say this, leave it alone! If we want to see wax figures, we will go to the wax museum, not spend such lavish amounts of money to be sorely disappointed!
The bottomline here is, & if you a multiregion blu-ray player owner, get this blu-ray & the Region 2 2001 dvd version! Stay away from the new blu-ray offering at all costs!
Movie Review: Predator Blu Ray review - Read This! Summary: 5 Stars
Over the last 4 months, I've read many reviews on the blu-ray picture quality of Predator. Many have bashed it as terrible looking transfer, however I am here to dispute it with proof. After much hesitation, I finally decided to purchase it from a retail store.
I popped in the blu-ray Predator into both my Panasonic BD30 and PS3 (for comparison), which is attached to my Pioneer Plasma PDP-5020 via HDMI, and would you believe the picture was outstanding. Of course, it doesn't look as good as other films that were released in past few years but this is best I have ever seen Predator look, with no distracting grain, digital noise or fuzziness as others have claimed. The picture actually pops with trees and jungle leaves showing lots of detail. I have attached 2 pictures so you can see how good it looks on my display.
The reasons why I think this blu ray looks terrible for all the reviewers (Pros and consumers)is because they have HDTV's that do not have 1) deep dark levels 2) 24 FPS and 3) Digital Noise Reduction capable displays. Pioneers are way ahead of all other HDTV's and here is the proof.
Before you decide to bash the blu-ray version of Predator, first ask yourself if your HDTV is really up to performing at its highest level.
If you would like to see more screen shots, I have attached my email address to the pictures.

Movie Review: "Grainy" edition is a keeper! Summary: 5 Stars
This review is for the "grainy" release of Predator on blu-ray. It looks great to me. Yes the grain is quite noticeable on the studio's logo at the beginning of the film and in some night scenes, yet the movie is outstanding. No regrets here!
Movie Review: Great movie Summary: 5 Stars
I was very pleased with the picture quality of the movie. Obviously there was no HD equipment in 1987 when the movie was filmed, but this Blu-ray looks very good. One of Arnold's best, for sure.
