Movie Reviews of Practical Magic (Snap Case Packaging)Movie Review: Finally, a movie gets it right! Summary: 5 Stars
I was so sick of all the movies showing witches as evil, murderous, vengeful sluts (the craft) or as completely unrealistic (bedknobs and broomstics and hocus pocus). This movie gets it right. How do i know? because im a witch. and this is what its all about. magic is what you make it to be. evil is comes from people, not witchcraft. there is a dark side and a light side to everyone, it just depends on what you choose to embrace. i wish there were more people out there who liked the movie for what it was. those poeple who just like it for the soundtrack, or dont like it at all, were probably influenced because they dont know what the craft is about. they dont know what its like to be persecuted for youre religion. people who didnt fall in love with this movie, obviously have no idea what witchcraft is. any true wiccan/pagan is sure to go ga-ga over this film. a definate MUST SEE.
Movie Review: So NOT "just another chick film". Summary: 5 Stars
Husbands and boyfriends, relax; when your Significant Other pops this disc into the player, you won't have to pretend to be awake through it, because this is that rarest of entertainments, a chick-film guys can enjoy without worrying about sleepwalking through a redecoration of the guest bedroom.
First off, it has great fenale leads - not to mention being REAL easy on the eyes. It's got a fun, at times creepy plot with a backstory that's maybe even a little disturbing (careful who you fall for); it also boasts a great Good Guy men can relate to, a GREAT bad guy men would rather not admit we can be like, and it's even got a pretty decent good vs. evil climactic battle.
If you're going to spend Sunday watching football, you won't feel you wasted your Saturday night watching this with your wife or girlfriend. Heck, it's okay; you can even admit you liked it. :-)
Movie Review: Practical Magic Review Summary: 5 Stars
This is a movie about two sisters who were born witches. One sister is wild, the other one tries to deny that she is a witch. When the wild sister (Nicole Kidman) gets in trouble with a crazy guy, her practical sister (Sandra Bullock) helps her out and they both get into trouble using witchcraft to get rid of him. The trouble gets scary, and then Sandra Bullock meets her dream guy that she wished for when she was a little girl. It gets pretty spooky after that, and you don't know if her dream guy will ever come back, and even if everything will ever get back to normal again for them. It's a very fun movie, but scary at times. I think it's ok for kids, with supervision. Some adult situations, a little language but not too bad. Great acting from both Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, and their aunts come close to stealing the show, they are very entertaining too!
Movie Review: Wonderful playful movie, Much better than the book Summary: 5 Stars
If you think witchy movies are not your thing, then please take the time to watch this one. I think you will stop thinking of Dorothy, insipid voices and striped socks. Oz does not live here!!I adored this movie! I loved how the women came together to help rid the Owen's of Gillian's loser boyfriend. I loved the house, can I have it? Stockard Channing as my Aunt? Oh how I wish!! Any movie with her in it is a must see. Solid cast, solid performances really a great time. The ensemble cast gives depth to a movie that really could be 2 dimensional, and in my opinion beats the book by leaps and bounds. While this is nothing like real witches, no we don't blow on flames. Nicole's sexy innocence is a great choice for Gillian; I don't know if I would have picked Sandra for Sally, her performance is very good as well.
Movie Review: A Favorite Movie!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Practical Magic is a comedic love story that is fun and entertaining no matter how many times you have seen it. Yes, it is different than the book, but Hollywood is Hollywood. The movie would not be as much fun if not for the changes-for example Midnight margaritas is a fun scene that makes you smile and wish you were part of the comradery. The Aunts are more lovable and less old & serious than in the book. It is not nec. to go into all the details of the movie if you have not seen it why spoil it for you and besides odds are you have seen it and are thinking about adding it to your collection- so go for it. The bonus features on the DVD are entertaining and interesting. I would tell anyone who likes fun movies to add this one to their collection and don't forget to plant rosemary by your garden gate. Enjoy it!
