Movie Reviews of Power Yoga - Total Body WorkoutMovie Review: This video provides a great workout. Summary: 5 StarsI was on the fence about getting this video because of all the mixed reviews, but after making the purchase I would recommend the workout. This video is not for beginners and I believe many of the poor reviews are based on misalignment between the level of the video and the level of the individual. If you have been doing Yoga for about 1 year and are now comfortable with most of the poses, this video will work for you. I still can not complete all the poses in the video so it is good in the sense that it provides a good workout and helps me build my flexibility and strength to improve.
Movie Review: Surprising Summary: 3 StarsAfter reading other reviews of this DVD on Amazon, I expected this DVD to be quite chellenging but found it not to be so. Rodney is a great teacher, the anatomical directions he gives on the DVD are very good but I found there to be a lack of consistency with his breath counts, which is a crucial part of a yoga practice. The flows were very basic based on Short Form Ashtanga postures - although you would have to have practiced yoga before because he uses the names of the poses often without verbal instruction as to how to move your body into the pose. I've been practicing yoga for 6 years and teaching for 3 years. I am 50 years old and in good shape for yoga but I am NOT and never was athletic. I've had shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff so I'm not Cirque de Soleil material but I can still take and give a tough class!! I like to rate a class on how many times I have to wipe my sweaty face with a towel, how many times I have to take a break in child's pose, and how many sips of water I need!! With this DVD I did not do any of those things and I was in a HOT room wearing fleece yoga clothes! So, my advice is if you are an advanced beginner or beginning intermediate yoga student, this would be a nice choice for you but if you are more experienced or stronger looking for a good, challenging home practice and are used to a strong vinyasa flow, this would not be my first recommendation.
Movie Review: Guru Gone Wrong Summary: 1 StarsTh actual DVD is good and I use it often.
With that being said, sadly, I can't support the sales of Rodney Yee. He was kicked out of the Yoga Alliance for dating his students. He left his wife and 3 children to marry a model / fellow guru. I don't trust his motives. Google search him. There are a lot of articles about his unscrupulous transactions. You decide.
Movie Review: Good workout Summary: 4 StarsThis workout is a nice, complete workout. There's nothing so difficult that an intermediate can't do. It might move a little quickly for a beginner, depending on their fitness level.
Movie Review: Totally Powerful Yoga Summary: 5 StarsThis is an awesome work out. It is for pretty much anyone who has done yoga for a while. It really helps people who are trying to move from beginner to intermediate and then help you get a good foundation to move further. It is probably the best work out I have ever had, and I have been working out for long time. I feel as though I lose five pounds every time I do this dvd. Rodney Lee is excellent in explaining every position and transitioning from one to the next. The setting is also beautiful and creates a great atmosphere. He warms you up nicely and moves into warrior and the other positions like triangle and side stretch, then to warrior one and harder ones like half moon and warrior three. Then he moves you to the floor with arrow and then into back bends. He then transitions to a nice cool down and relaxation. Its a great work out. For sure one of my favorites that I will have and use for a long time.
