Movie Reviews of Power Yoga - Total Body WorkoutMovie Review: Stamina Required Summary: 5 StarsAs a yoga enthusiast for years, I am used to yoga for fun, stretching, flexibility, and a peaceful experience. The Power Yoga-Total Body Workout is just that...powerful. Forget peaceful. You will soon be in a full-body sweat. The poses progress from one to the next with little time for catching your breath, and some are great for challenging your balance and coordination. I wanted a more strenuous workout, and I got it with this DVD. Rodney Yee is a good teacher, especially for the intermediate and advanced levels. However, this is not for beginners.
All in all, I love the workout and try to incorporate yoga with my other workouts at least three times a week.
Movie Review: to much repetition Summary: 3 StarsI have used this dvd only 2 times because i did not really like it. There is to much jumping back and forth in this dvd. I am not a fan of that and i do yoga regularly. It is not one of my favorites. I recommend bryan kest power yoga series, they are much smoothly ran.
Movie Review: My favorite Summary: 5 StarsI have many Yee (and Gaiam) yoga DVD's and this is the one I come back to time and time again- I never get bored with it. It's got a little bit of everything and is presented well. Yee knows his stuff, he's very thorough in helping to make for proper alignment- you can't go wrong with one of his practices (though you may not be up to it yet, just give yourself time and you'll get there!). But given that he is an Iyengar yogi, having the props is really beneficial especially when you're doing certain postures. But even if you don't you will still get a great workout just doing the vinyasas and stretching in this program.
Movie Review: Great Hour workout Summary: 5 StarsThis DVD workout encompasses everything I'm looking for in a yoga workout as both a flexibility and endurance workout. I would recommend this DVD for anyone looking to do Yoga at home and still get a great workout for the price of less than one real class.
Movie Review: I am a fan of Rodney Yee, but this was disappointing. Very repetitive. Summary: 2 StarsI bought this DVD based on the reviews and because I have his other Power Yoga workouts and enjoy them. I was very disappointed in this DVD. Like another reviewer, I was expecting some more challenging poses. All I got were the same few poses over and over again. Yes, it was hard. Very hard. But boring at the same time. If that makes sense?
It was too difficult for me to continue without stopping, and I am somewhere around intermediate in my yoga skill level. But yet I was so bored I just wanted to stop. I would think to myself "this pose AGAIN?"
So here is my list of pros and cons:
Pros:
Very challenging, for intermediate or advanced students
Beautiful setting
Basic yoga poses, nothing too out there
Cons:
Very repetitive
Few of the more challenging, interesting poses
Too hard for most people, I think. He holds the poses quite a long time.
I didn't care for the music
You will like this DVD if you like to do the same poses over and over again. The first 30 minutes basically consisted of Warrior 1, Warrior 2, push up position, upward facing dog, downward facing dog, standing forward bend. Over and over again.
The rest was a little more varied, but still only common poses. You will not like this video if you are looking for different kinds of poses, or if you do not have a whole lot of strength already. This is not for beginners.
I'd recommend instead:
Intermediate video for women - Yoga Conditioning for Women, 60 minutes.
Power yoga - Power Yoga: Stamina (Rodney Yee), 20 minutes.
Beginner yoga - Stress Relief Yoga (Suzanne Deason), 20 minutes.
