Movie Reviews of PossessedMovie Review: Finally, Crawford Rocks...thanks to Heflin !! Summary: 5 Stars
I finally found a Joan Crawford that I really enjoyed and this "noir" is simply superb with Crawford as a schizophrenic and never knowing what is real and what is not.
All through this movie I never felt like I was watching Crawford play a certain role and it kept me totally absorbed in the story.
All the characters carried their roles perfectly with Crawford, Raymond Massey, a young and super attractive Geraldine Brooks, but my favorite was one of my all time favorite actors, Van Heflin !!!
You cannot go wrong with "Possessed !
Movie Review: Another magnificent performance for Miss Crawford Summary: 5 Stars
Hollywood is no longer churning out excellent professional actresses such as Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Lana Turner, Dhianne Carroll (I may have spelled her name wrong) Dorthy Dandridge, and many others to say the least.
I have always loved watching Joan Crawford movies. In Possessed she played the psychotic role of Louise, a woman who is obsessed with a man named David, who plays on her emotions, and then tires of her and treats her like nothing more than a fly on his shoulder. His attitude towards her causes tragic results.
Movie Review: Miss Crawford at her very best!! Summary: 5 Stars
Joan does a superb job as Louise Howell, a nurse who is possessed by love for Van Heflin and later becomes possessed by a mental illness.
Joan is so convincing as a schizophrenic, (in the opening scene, A practically disponded Joan is on the verge of decomping mentally), it made my blood run cold.(I am a retired mental health professional)
This was Joans second nom for the golden boy and in my opinion, she should have won. Excellent movie, Superb performance by Miss Crawford!

Movie Review: Possessed Summary: 5 Stars
A dark character study told in flashbacks, "Possessed" finds Joan Crawford doing what she does best: acting unhinged. Joan earned another Oscar nomination for it, but the supporting players also elevate the proceedings, primarily Heflin and Massey, both first-rate actors. The young Geraldine Brooks makes a radiant debut playing Massey's grown daughter.
