Movie Reviews of Portrait of JennieMovie Review: Portrait of Jennie DVD Summary: 4 Stars
Since Joseph Cotten is one of my favorite actors, it's no wonder that this is one of my favorite movies. Cotten is exceptional in this role. He is quite the tortured soul in this movie. He wants to connect with the young girl that shows up every so often in his life but quickly vanishes before he can find out more about her.
The supporting cast is wonderful as well. Jennifer Jones, Ethel Barrymore, Lillian Gish, Cecil Kellaway -- all big name actors just add to the quality of this production. The photography is great and the last few minutes of the movie is filmed in technicolor as a contrast.
It's a haunting and bittersweet love story that is every bit as good as it was in 1943.
Movie Review: Portrait of Jennie Summary: 4 Stars
They sure don't make movies like that any more. It is so refreshing not to here
profanity in a movie or absence shots. why cant they make movies like that now days ?
Its a very good movie to watch with a loved one. I would have to give this movie.****
Movie Review: Against all parameters Summary: 4 Stars
This has to be what real LOVE is all about without any concern about staying within accepted parameters or any burden of the physics or care of "regular" life. It can/does cross all reason and Debussy's music just adds to the mystique and enigma.
Movie Review: Wonderful Surprise - Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my mother who has loved this movie since she was a young lady. The only thing I would have like was the option to have purchased it in Black and White as she had seen it originally.
Either way she was delighted!
